Hi, all the car enthusiast especially die-hard impreza fans.

I always admire impreza, is there any possibility to get a 2nd unit from year 92 onward with the budget of 60-80k, any feed back is very much appreciated.

Get the ones after 1994. Problematic gearboxes haunt the earlier models.

Year 92 is quite old and majestic. Try to look for at

I'm scounting for one too. Dunno how much people will

Which used car dealer u saw in Kelana Jaya? Is that
those facing the LDP beside the Shell station? STi
version 1-3 is about 1991-1993, Version 4 is 94,
Version 5 is 96 and Version 6 is 97 onwards up to 99,
if i'm not mistaken as the years of Subaru producing
newer versions are quite complex, with the additional
Type RA, NA and NB.
The STi version 1-3 would probably fetch-up a price
slightly below RM100K. If u happen to view someone's
car who is selling, do let me know cause i would also
like to see it Smile

All,

Impreza WRX year models are:
1992 - 1993 WRX Ver 1
1993 - 1994 WRX Ver 2
1994 - 1995 WRX Ver 2
1995 - 1996 Ver 3
1996 - 1997 Ver 3
1997 - 1998 Ver 4
1998 - 1999 Ver 5
1999 - 2000 Ver 6

WRX Production runs are from i.e. Sept 93 - Aug 94 -
Ver 1. Cars after Sept 94, are Ver 2, which are
produced to Sept 95, etc.

Model variants of the Impreza are:-
WRX - Normal turbo 4WD
STI - Sports enhanced
RA - Stripped out version for rallying conversion to
Group A

Below 100K, would prob be a Ver 1 or 2, and remotely a
Ver 3. STIs would cost you a premium of about 15K, on
top of the base WRX.

However, all Imprezas are updatable to the latest ver
6.

Regards
-Ivan

Ivan,
Refer to The Star's paper under car for sale
classifieds, there's this person selling the WRX for
RM99K, 94/99, 16in" Enkei, Black. I called up, and he
claimed that it's a Version I. The thing that confused
me was that he also claimed the car churns out 260HP
which i don't think a Version I WRX can do that,
because he told me that it's a stock standard, no mods
being done. He's from a used-car dealer. What's your
comment?

jason77,

Any WRX can churn out 260bhp, even the local Auto
Dunia models, rated at 210bhp. All a mater of turning
up the boost. Just a factor of how safe it will be,
that will be the question.

The Ver1 and 2, would normally have a TD05 turbine,
and these are rated to a max of 280-300bhp potential,
while the Ver3-6 have a smaller IHI-VF2x series,
equivalent to a TD04, which is rated to a lower hp
rating potential.

Please verify the version by the chassis number, and
we can trace the numbers to which year the car was
produced, and whether it is an STI or not.

Groove2409,
Spare parts are always available back at Auto Dunia.
Correct me if i'm wrong, i heard that most of the
spare part shops in town doesn't have impreza basic
stuffs like oil filter, bushes, drive shafts, etc.
Since impreza is a performance car, u can always
look for its spares and accessories in Bandar Sunway.
It's a real haven there for car enthusiast including
Ivan Khong's workshop. Smile
