Tks for the info bro. My concern is more on the harsh ride than the bouncy high speed drive. Since AES is being installed on all highways, got to keep speed to 110kmh.At this speed there is no bounce at all. As for the harsh ride, any rough road or pot hole is felt quite distinctly. This what i would like to reduce. I'm planning to change shocks with springs. I feel the springs have a role in this too.

I had the same issue lastime.. When I hit a pot hole, it felt thru the bone and I always check on my rims when I got down from my car... I took a gamble and did the Autofoam On the chassis as I read a lot of positive response.. My gamble paid off and very satisfied with the results,, the improvement is very addictive and I end up foaming the entire car as I like the rigidness of the body, improve handling and increase cornering speed.... smile_evil.gif

Still using the ori shocks which is a bit soft and it feels floating when travel at high speed, after foaming, these feelings gone.. Still soft but comfy, that's why I was asking about the koni's..

Unfortunately, Autofoam is unreversible therefore it is important to choose a reputable installer that you are comfortable with and get it done properly first time.

New ride? then they are on the Conti CSC3, right? Many have complaint about the harsh ride of these Conti, but too early to change.... smile_blackeye.gif

Yes bro, new ride,at $126K i feel it's good valve for money considering the technology it brings! It is on CC3 - 225x45x17. I suppose the low profile adds to the harsh ride on the car! However, it's extremely good gripe on wet and dry and low noise level. Have been told Michelin's a lot more comfortable. What's your take?

Will try a trade in with tyre shop for a normal profile Michelin. I've only done 5K on the CC.

I'm not sure if Autofoam is the answer. This car has a pretty rigid chassis by manufacture. It's infact sports tuned.Peugeot has raised the bar on handling with this car. Perhaps too rigid, that road shocks instead of being absorbed is transferred to cabin.I fear Autofoam may add to it's rigidity, which will only make the situation worst!

Just my 2 cents worth, not sure if this will be the case!

Bro, this is a serious misconception. happy.gif

Chassis is supposed to be stiff else you have a bouncy and shaky car like what you've described, giving you less confidence and comfort at higher speeds. Even Aston's and Porches get Autofoamed and it only make those cars MORE comfortable ... it certainly does not make it more harsh. It makes you going at 110 feel like you're going at 90 - and if you're going 160, it feels like 110. Hope I've described it well enough for ya.

Sports tuned refers to your suspension. Nothing to do with the chassis. No one tunes the chassis laugh.gif If you're looking for less sporty, then you need to work on your suspensions down (not up).

I'm on 225/45/R17. This size gives a typical Euro feel smile.gif performance + some level of comfort. Michellin - depends on which model. PS2 are supposed to be good -but cost quite a bit. PS3s are cheaper, but not as good.

Hi MASsenger,

I own a Pug 308T myself and know where you are coming from.
The car is ok but the ride is not what I expected from a Frenchie. Nowhere near my old Citroen ZX.
A bit harsh over our famous KL potholes and speed bumps. But the worst of all is the car "bounces" and hops over undulating roads at higher speeds esp the road to Sepang Airport and my favorite, Duke highway.

1) I AutoFOAMed the complete Undercarriage and engine frames and that reduced the harshness and vibrations significantly.
Compared to Jap and asian cars, the chassis is more rigid but still there was obvious improvements after AutoFOAM.
But the bouncy feeling at Duke was still there.

2) I changed the tires from stock Contis to GY F1 Asy 2s. Sligt improvement.
Note: I preferred the rec. 35psi tire pressure . A bit high but seems to work well.

The problem is the suspension. The stock springs just have too much travel..."springiness" in them smile_tongue.gif

I recently upgraded the suspension to,
1) H&R sports springs ( 30 mm)...not too low. infact, you need another 308 side by side to realise it is lowered.
2) Bilstein B8 Shocks.

Result: A totally different car. MUCH improved !!!
1) Comfort is improved. The car doesnt Hop and the ride is more pliant than before.
2) Handling is transformed to the point that the infamous "to the Left" problem has improved significantly.
i "ulu Yammed" it to test.. smile_thumbup.gif

Give me a day's notice ( wife's car) and will bring it down for you to test the transformation yourself.
Only now i am enjoying my 308....after 3 years!

Tks for the clarification on autofoam. I'm concerned if this will void warranty! I meant the car is sports tuned, not chassis,my bad writeup.

Btw,still unclear about rigid chassis. The more rigid anything gets the less shock it will absorb.

Tks for your offer Desmond,I will call you to try out your wifes car. I am very keen to reduce harshness. Not so worried about the bonce. What would it cost to autofoam the whole car. Concerned about the warranty too, don't want to loose the 5 year warranty!

Good for you to test out the car but just remember that besides being fully autofoamed, the tyres and shocks was also changed.

Just to share an experience of a friend of mine who fully autofoamed his new civic 2 years back in pursuit of a more comfortable less harsh ride and spending around RM4K plus on the autofoam alone, he ended up with an even stiffer ride than before and hated his new set up. In the end, he asked why did his ride get worse and was informed that his current stock absorbers was not able to handle the shocks and energy after the autofoam treatment (stiffer and stronger chassis or something). In the end, he had to fork out around another RM4K to change his stock absorbers to Koni absorbers also at KL Auto for a better ride quality. Well, at least my friend is content with his ride now... but please keep in mind what you are getting into as autofoaming is just the beginning and you may need to upgrade other parts to keep up as well.

Either Michelin PS3 or GY Asy2, but if you want normal profile you have to switch rims with the non turbo model that comes in 16" 205/55R16.... smile_tongue.gif
