Maxis rides on the same fibre infrastructure as UNIFI. Maxis leases the capacity from TM.

Maxis is good if you also use Maxis Mobile - I believe it is 600 mins of free calls to Maxis land line and mobile numbers. Comes with FOC DECT phone too.

Those living in condos can also subscribe to ASTRO IPTV. This is a fibre service too - no problems when raining. But the internet cost (Time.Net) is expensive. However you get free HD and PTV worth RM 50 per month, FOC.

Oh, they lease from TM the fiber lines? But my area did not see any Maxis promotion. TM still have.

One thing, since you mention they lease TM fiber lines. Every junction box only have 8 lines. If that is filled up by TM, then Maxis cannot come in either?

My wife uses the free TM calls to her mom outstation. If change to Maxis then cannot use already, because her mom's line is under TM.... smile_tongue.gif

Maxis has its own DBs - but the trunk infrastructure is still TMs.

Remember, TM received billions of RM from the govt. to set up the high speed fibre broadband network. So in order to make better utilisation of the network they are leasing capacity to any telco that wants it. I think P1 is also leasing from TM.

Technically, once an area has UNIFI, Maxis Home Fibre Network should not be far behind.

Hi everyone, hope you do not mind me posting this here and I need your view as I am not good with IT things.
I am looking for the cheapest way to upgrade my streamyx and I have narrow down to these 2:

P1: RM69/mth 1 Mbps, quota 5GB

or

Yes: RM 68/mth 20 Mbps, quota 4GB

Which of the 2 would you recommend?
Is it a good idea to use wireless or should I stick with streamyx?
Thanks for your view and help.

Sifu, I agree with you and I am considering using Yes. Thinking of signing up 24 months contract to get a free modem. I am concern with the wireless broadband reliability. Anyone using P1 or Yes, would like your views on this? Thanks.

P1 signal depends very much on where you live. Not good for high rise buildings or places where there is no line of site to base station. Even if you have a good signal, max speed is not good - but I think 1 Mbps is achievable if there is no congestion.

As for Yes, I have yet to get a good report from any user! I hope that (like P1), you can cancel the service within 7 days, if it is not good.

Flee
