Test driven the new XLT2.2, feel there is lagging for this truck.. Press the pedal, count....1.....2.. Seconds.. Then only start moving.. Is it applied to all VGT truck? Then feel much bumpy, but the sales person said due to higher pressure pump on their tyres...

I have yet to test the Ranger, but I would suspect that this lagginess may be due to the high boost pressures of the turbo - necessary to generate the Ranger's impressive outputs.

By right, VGT eliminates turbolag. I haven't tested the Ranger yet but I am eager to try out, think I wanted to test drive few times as it seems superbly tempting. Trucks always feel bumpy especially the rear due to leafspring. It's not proper McPherson style spring anyway, just layers of oval metal to dampen the vibration.

Test drove 2.2ltr last friday, and yes i did feel a bit of a turbo lag but it seems ok if i press the pedal harder. Is that normal?
Wife complained not comfortable sittin at the back but i feel fine coz i'll plan to use it most of the time myself.
Now waitin for loan to approve at 2.44% interest rate. Anyone out there managed to get discount from the 95,888 price tag ah?
Btw, still got free casio watch but not interested in it....

Went to Ford with fellow buddies enthusiasts. Reached there at FOrd Federal highway nobody served like we are invisible. Went there in colleague's Altis 2011 also, x layan. Guess Ford's business is very good now. THose who came in later, the look cleaner and got good income immediately those sellman run to serve like very free. Left the showroom and went elsewhere some other day in forgot where and which state already. Malay salesman there very friendly and offered test drive.

Test unit Ranger 2.2 auto.

Now I know why bencklim and dyfw said there's lag. It's not turbo lag but the pickup truck is way too heavy weighing over 2100kg for the 2.2L. The 375Nm torque for the 2.2L is very good, but to drag the 2100kg behemoth, it's like getting back to square 1 for a pickup truck that has no VGT 2.5L. I can say it's a mistake for Ford to fit 2.2L engine. If they could get a new 2.5L VGT diesel engine instead, I can say, it'll be the best pickup truck ever. If 2.2L could get 375Nm, the 2.5L should easily get 420Nm.

Interior is very spacious, comes second after the even bigger Chevy Colorado. Interior dash and door panels just ok, the side panel is a bit not that high quality but still fine to me.

The bed is very good, bigger than other pickups. Practicality is very high. Rear sensor is good idea. Interior centre console gives tiny screen of MFD, would be better if they make it bigger so that we could fit in LCD instead. Turning circle is quite big 13m? Triton has best turning circle at 11.2m that is even smaller than Civic.

Suspension wise, it's a pickup truck, rearwise, the leafspring won't do as good as normal Multi-link, Macpherson and torsion beam anyway. Acceptable for pickup truck though.

Downside is the dumb warning light using the headlamp and rear lights as indicator when door is not shut. If left the door open, it'll drain away the battery already. Totally ridiculous.

Will I buy the Ranger now? The way those sellmen treated me and my buddies, the overweight frame, I think I'll change my mind. My buddy that went together wanted to sell off his old waja for new ride, I think he got discouraged by those sellmen dumb mentality that judge people from outside. Sub RM100k budget, I think he could wait a little longer to check what other alternative before decide.

NVH for pickup, normal. Nothing much to comment, ride sure bumpier than cars. Compared to old Ranger, it is overall improvement. Going through hump, the rear still bumpy.

Only thing is the small 2.2L diesel engine is a big let down + ridiculous head and rear light switch on as indicator when door is not closed. Whether or not I will still buy the Ranger, if the SA never treated me that badly, I will consider as the Ranger is still awesome though engine is too small for the weight.
