for long distance driving, I prefer this mounting..... coz we won't change gear during
cruising & this feature enable Escape to have big storage compartment in the middle, and
what I like most is it gives extra comfort when you rest your hand on it while driving.
More space also for can drinks.
My 2 year old daugther likes to sit on it (middle compartment).... of course, only when I
But, in city driving, when we have to stop more frequently & change gear to N or P, it is
not so comfortable. But, I get use to it now...... even though I always change from my
Focus (manual) & my wife's Escape for weekend. The only thing that always make me
confuse/mistake are the signal/wiper switch............Focus is European setup, while
Escape is Japanese style!!.

regarding the gear "slide" back..... I did not mean it slide to other gear position. When
you pull the gear to change it to D & realease it, the gear stick will take position in the
middle (slide back half way). After certain speed/distance, it will slide further to the back
(dashboard). Is it means the gear is changed from 2nd to 3rd or to 4th gear?? or means
nothing? just slide back....

is really unusual! It has nothing to do with which gear is engaged and
could be that the shift lever mechanism or joints are stiff (just
guessing) so when you move to D, the lever does not slot into the actual
position initially. I recommend you ask the SC to take a look at this as
it is not a normal characteristic.

other than "sliding" back, the rest is OK, smooth move, no strange sound from gear
box...so I guess the gear is fully engaged. Anyway, thanks for the advice... will bring it to
SC to check.

unit's adaptive transmission ..... happy to report that it has
now "settled-down" and feeling great - the funny thing is that it had
taken all of about 6000km to adapt to my driving style!!
Have any of you guys seen any Escape riding on 17" wheels and tyres?
Wonder if there are any 225/70/17 tyre in production?? I know this will
cause the speedo to under-read, but I do feel that the standard equipment
225/70/15 looks too small for the vehicle .....

17-inch on any variants.

great to hear that.... so it takes 6K KM to re-learn!!. so, never leave "her" too long again!
regarding 17" rim, for me I would prefer stick to original 15" rim but change the tyre to
wider & thicker...... look more 4WD. Bigger rim would be look nice for RAV4 not Escape,
b'coz Escape is more to 4WD look.

precisely what I am afraid of, that they would look too "Pajero-like"!!
Hahaha .... I just wanna do something to make the wheel look bigger
because I feel the standard ones look too tiny ....

trainnies,it will run hotter than original tyre. Your car acceleration
will affected too. Transmission won't last too.
