Words & Pictures: FASTLANE
SINGAPORE, May 5th – As its tagline suggests, AAS2011 is indeed Asia‟s premiere auto parts and accessories show. Great deals await all who come to the show and if you have always been eyeing that swanky new carbon fibre bonnet or performance enhancing exhaust system to upgrade your beloved ride then you will have a field day at AAS2011. There will be special exclusive promotions all through the 3 days of the show on items such as suspension systems, LED auto lighting, innovative engine parts, brake kits, exhaust systems, carbon body parts, automobile frames and even engine fittings etc.
The exhibitors include tuning powerhouses from Singapore and internationally recognised manufacturers of suspensions, exhaust systems, racing seats and lightweight carbon fibre products from Japan. For those that like variety there will also be exhibitors from Taiwan and China showcasing their wares including carbon fibre kits, strut tower bars and full brake systems that include high quality brake discs, steel hoses and brake callipers. Participants from Korea will make their debut in AAS2011 and along with exhibitors from Thailand, Australia and our neighbours Malaysia, there will be a wide range of products from many international renowned brands on show. Automotive enthusiasts who come to AAS2011 will have a chance to source for their dream parts direct from the manufacturer with no import or middleman charges!
And as if having a stellar list of exhibitors is not enough, the performances that have been arranged promises to wow audiences with daring drifting exhibitions from Australian drifters Jerome James Kennedy and Danny Kenneally, the latter a 1st place finisher at the Goulburn, Stadium Drift Nationals in 2010.
Japanese pro drifters who will also be in town include Kimihiro Obata, Manabu Fukinaka, Takamasa Kuroi, Tsutomo Fujio and Champion lady drifter Hiromi Kajikuma also known as Hiro-rin.
Hiro-rin has been actively involved in motorsports from as early as 1996. Her participation in Time Attack and Local Amateur Races won her numerous trophies. In 2006, Hiromi attained a 3rd place finish in D1 Time Trial at the D1 GP USA. She is also well known as one of the outstanding lady drifters in the Japanese D1 GP circuit. She will be in Singapore at AAS 2011 driving the Toyota AE86 of popular anime ‘Initial D’ fame.
Also in town will be Tsutomo Fujio, a vastly experienced and talented Japanese motorsports racer who has earned the moniker „The Terminator‟ from the way he “terminates” the competition during races. Tsutomo started out racing Nissan Skylines in time attacks before shifting his focus to drifting in his current ride, a sleek Mazda Efini FD3S RX7. A certified drift instructor, judge at the DDGT motorsports event in Korea and test driver for the likes of Korean tire giants Hankook, Tsutomo is well qualified to show Singapore audiences everything about the ultra cool motorsport of drifting.
