The New Volvo XC60 Now Available In Malaysia
The all-new Volvo XC60 is available now in Malaysia. The initial batch of the XC60 are fully imported from Sweden in T8 Inscription Plus form and is priced at RM373,888 on the road without insurance. The locally-assembled XC60 will follow at a later date (possibly in the 2nd quarter of 2018) and Volvo Car Malaysia will offered that in 3 variants – XC60 T5 (RM298,888), XC60 T8 Twin Engine Inscription (RM333,888), and XC60 T8 Twin Engine Inscription Plus (RM343,888); on the road without insurance.
Speaking at the launch, Lennart Stegland, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia said “The exterior has an athletic sculpture with a subtle timeless quality. The interior is a masterful composition of well-resolved architecture and beautiful materials, all perfectly blended together.
The new XC60 is built on the company’s new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) and scores a near-perfect 98% in the Adult Occupant category and 95% in the Large Off-Road vehicle class, bagging it Best Overall Performance by Euro NCAP 2017.
On this, Lennart commented “Volvo has vision that by year 2020, no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo car – this recent award underlines our leadership in safety technologies and makes the new XC60 one of the safest cars that we have ever made”.
The XC60 T5 uses a 2.0L Drive-E engine with turbocharger that is capable of 254 hp and 350 Nm of torque. The power is distributed by an 8-speed automatic Geartronic to all 4 wheels (with more power going to the front).
The T5 variant runs on 18″ wheels and boasts a 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time of 6.8 seconds and has an official average fuel consumption of 7.8 litres per 100 km (combined cycle).
Meanwhile, the T8 variants sport the same 2.0L Drive-E with turbocharger and is also supercharged. As a plug-in hybrid, it is complemented by an electric motor that sits in the rear axle (the drive shaft tunnel of the hybrid is packed with the battery pack instead). The combined power output 407 hp and 640 Nm of torque.
It also has the same gearbox but is much speedier at 5.3 seconds for 0 – 100 km/h acceleration. The official average fuel consumption on the combined cycle is 2.1 litres per 100 km. The 10.4 kWh lithium-ion battery has a claimed range of 45 km.
The Inscription Plus variant gets the Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system with 15 speakers while the lesser variants get a high performance 10-speaker system.
All variants are equipped with such features as Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Regenerative Braking, Electronic Stability Control with Active Yaw Control, Understeer Control Logic, Spin Control, Engine Drag Control and Dynamic Torque Vectoring, Intelligent Driver Information System, Dynamic Chassis, front & rear Park Assist, dual zone climate control, Voice Control, Sensus Connect with 9″ touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and remote key tag.
On top of that the T8 Inscription variants have paddle shifters, Navigation Pro with Road Sign Information System, Orrefors Crystal Gear Lever with illumination, Voice Control with Active Noise Cancellation, LED headlights with Active Bending Lights, headlight cleaners, Inscription Driftwood decor inlay, Rain Sensor with Tunnel Detection, semi-autonomous Pilot Assist, Surround View Camera, Park Assist Pilot for parallel and perpendicular parking, Cabin Pre-conditioning, and panoramic sunroof.
