The Porsche Boxster and Cayman line-ups in Malaysia have received a new performance flagship each in the form of the GTS variants launched recently following their global premiere at the Auto China in Beijing last year.

Fitted with the most powerful engines ever used in either nameplate, both the Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS are powered by enhanced versions of the 3.4-litre flat-six found in the S variants of both models tuned to deliver an additional outputs of 15hp and 10Nm each thanks to tweakings performed on their respective valvetrains and combustion processes.

With outputs of 330 and 340hp, the Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS are able to hit 100kph from standstill in 4.7 and 4.8 seconds respectively en route to top speeds of 281 and 285kph.

For Malaysia, both models come standard with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission as well as the Sport Chrono package that include enhancements such as dynamic transmission mounts and a stiffer Sport Plus setting on its adaptive suspension that also lowers the car by 10mm.

Visually, cues that differentiate the GTS variants from the regular variants of both models include a new nose that extends the vehicle’s overall length by 30mm and with larger air intakes. Smoked bi-xenon headlamps with dynamic cornering lights are standard.

Retail pricing of the Boxster GTS starts at RM660,000 before on-road costs but inclusive of four-year factory and free maintenance packages. The Cayman GTS, under the same terms, cost an additional RM40,000 at RM700,000.
