Nissan Sylphy Tuned by Impul
In conjunction with Round 4 of the Super GT International Series Malaysia last weekend, Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) launched the all-new Nissan Sylphy Tuned by Impul at the Sepang International Circuit. This makes the Sylphy the third Nissan model in Malaysia after the Latio and Grand Livina to receive the Impul treatment.
There are a total of five enhancements to the standard Sylphy packaged in by Impul, namely the aerokit, sports suspension, exhaust muffler, 17″ alloy rims and black leather seats with matching carpets. With the exception of the leather seats, these enhancement parts are also available for purchase by existing Sylphy owners.
Both the Comfort and Luxury variants of the Sylphy can be specified with the kit, at a premium of nearly RM10k over the standard Sylphy. Individually buying the entire set of components for the kit would cost you over RM13k, and you don’t get the leather seats for that. The cosmetic enhancements are a matter of personal taste but the exhaust muffler and sports suspension are worth going for.
Members of the public can view the Nissan Sylphy Tuned by Impul at selected Nissan showrooms nationwide. Alternatively, ETCM is conducting a series of roadshows around the country, with the first one being at One Utama on 8 – 12 July 2009.

Read below for a brief description of the enhancements offered by the Nissan Sylphy Tuned by Impul.
1. Impul Complete Aerokit
The Impul aerokit gets you a new front grille, rear spoiler and skirts all round. Featuring a horizontal body-coloured slat, the new front grille gives the Sylphy a much more imposing front fascia. The rear spoiler is of a simple elegant looking design, but the skirts are definitely way too overdone. A bit more restraint during the design process would have done the Sylphy a lot of good.
For individual purchase (inclusive installation & painting):
- front grille: RM800
- aerokit (rear spoiler and all-round skirtings): RM3,600
2. Impul Sports Suspension System
Impul’s suspension upgrades consists of new coils and absorbers all round. Nissan promises enhanced traction, improved steering response and minimal compromise between sportiness and comfort. In addition, the new setup also lowers the Sylphy by 25mm from the standard version. Existing owners wishing to retrofit this into their Sylphys will have to fork out RM2,800 (including installation) for the privelege.
3. Impul Blast II Exhaust Muffler
Do give Impul and Nissan credit for offering more than just a chromed tailpipe here. It’s a polished stainless steel muffler designed to offer a ‘sharper engine response’ and also a sporty exhaust note. Individual purchase at RM1,800 plus installation.
4. 17″ Impul Aural SX-10 Black & Polish Finish Alloy Wheels with Dunlop Formula D-01 205/45/R17 Tyres
Bearing more than a passing resemblance to rims from BMW M, the Impul Aura rims are two sizes up from the standard Sylphy’s 15″ wheels. Made using Impul’s New Super Cast process, they offer up to 30% weight savings compared to conventionally manufactured wheels of identical size.
Compared to the comfort-biased 195/65 tyres of the standard Sylphy, the Impul tuned version now comes in 205/45 Dunlop Formula D-01 rubbers to wrap around the 17″ SX-10 alloys.
For individual purchase:
- 17″ Impul Aura SX-10 alloy wheels (set of four rims, complete with centre caps, air valves & installation) : RM4,600
- 205/45 R17 Dunlop Formula D01 tyres (excluding alignment & balancing): RM350/piece.
5. Black Leather Seats and Matching Carpet Mats with Impul Logo
The standard beige seats are taken out and replaced with sportier looking black leather. Complementing the transformation are a set of five matching black Impul carpet mats, available for individual purchase at RM250. ETCM is not offering retrofitting of the leather seats for current Sylphy owners, but that shouldn’t be necessary. With the rest of the interior, such as the seat belts and centre console, still coloured in the original beige, the black coloured leather seats looks distinctly like an afterthought.
I just got a Sylphy Impul 2 days ago and last nite i got drunk & ran over a divider.. my left front & rear rims are damaged badly.. is there any possibility of purchasing only 2 rims? Now either the balancing is gone or what i dont know.. the steering will vibrate terribly when i go around 90-100kmh… its kinda heartache as its my new car.. i’ve learned my lesson….![:(](http://autoworld.com.my/news/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
Sir
I just got my sylphy few months ago, my main complain is that it is too soft on road bumps even if it is to small. Is any way I can add or replace the suspension system
Thank you
