G-1 JPM Race Team Eyeing Open Class and Class A Titles in MME
Kuala Lumpur, 22 August 2006, – Team G-1 JPM is seeking podium positions for the MME at the Sepang International Circuit, scheduled for this coming weekend.
The lead car shall be a Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R, competing in the Open Class. The car is specially prepared by Shift RaceCar Engineering, an outfit in Japan, and has a straight six engine with 460 bhp at the wheels. The transmission is a 6-speed Sequential box from Hollinger. With full-time 4WD, the R34 is known for its sure-footed handling; the unique Atessa system electronics makes the R34 feel and drive like a rear wheel drive machine through corners, yet allows it to accelerate out of bends faster than conventional rear wheel drive cars. Top speed is in excess of 330 km/hr (200 mph), and acceleration from zero to 100 km/hr is under 3.5 seconds.
The R34 will be driven by Eric Yeo (35), Firhat Mokhzani (32), and Chin Tzer Jinn (22). All are accomplished drivers, and given the power of the car, they should give a good account of themselves.
The second car entered by the team shall be a Honda Integra DC5 Type R, similar to the JPM Racing Integras used in the Integra challenge, but with more goodies added by Mugen to make the car more competitive against the rest of the field. The Integra will be competing in Class A. The engine has been developed with durability rather than outright power in mind, as this is an endurance race; it has been tested and has been proven to be able to last more than 24 hours of high-speed runs.
The Honda Integra is to be piloted by Mr. JP Chin (50), the owner of JPM Racing, Jeffrey Wong (46), and TP Chin (20), the younger of JP Chin’s two sons in motorsport.
