Clocking record time in practice, Malaysia’s first all women racing team gets further boost from X-1R engine treatment.

Kuala Lumpur, Tuesday, August 9, 2005 — Deanna Yusoff and Phillipa Yoong of the X-1R Red Bull racing team are all revved up for the upcoming Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race, scheduled on the 26th and 27th of August 2005. Both Deanna and Phillipa clocked their best lap times of 2:46:73 and 2:45:97 respectively in a recent training session, 1 second faster than their personal best in 2004.

Competing under the flag of X-1R RedBull Racing, the team will be using a 1800cc Satria GTI and have set itself a target of a podium finish in Class B, for production cars between 1800cc and 2000cc. The producer of this world renowned performance engine treatment product, X-1R, has been sponsoring the team for all its races since 2003.

According to team owner AMN Motorsport’s Operations Director, Hafizy Hafiz, “We aim to be the first all women’s team to get a podium finish. With the team’s much improved racing skills, consistent performance and the long-lasting engine protected and powered by X-1R, our goal of winning the RM25,000 and the Silverstone Challenge Trophy is well within reach.”

With further engine tune up and transmission set up, all with the support of X-1R, the girls expect to make full use of their better, faster performing Satria GTI. X-1R, tested on some of the best race tracks in the United States of America, has led many racing teams to the podium. In 1991, Morgan McLure Racing Kodak Car driven by Earnie Irvin won the prestigious Daytona 500.

Over the past 10 years, X-1R has helped many NASCAR (US’ National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing) Racing Teams to their victories. NASCAR crew chief of the decade, Ernie Elliot and brother Dan Elliott have been using X-1R to boost their car performance. Both Ernie and Dan are responsible for building some of the world’s fastest racing engines.

A new team member is also joining Deanna and Phillipa this year – Japanese driving sensation Kazumi Mikami will be racing for the first time in Malaysia. An experienced front wheel drive car driver, Kazumi has wide experience in endurance races as she had been competing regularly in Japan since 1999. She is currently racing in the Formula Toyota Championship in Japan.
