Honda Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. Announces New President and Chief Operating Officer
Petaling Jaya, 13 May, 2005 – Honda Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. today announced that Nik Hamdan Nik Hassan has been appointed as the company’s third President and Chief Operating Officer effective 1 May, 2005.
Nik Hamdan, 44, previously a General Manager for Sales and Marketing in Honda Malaysia succeeded Syed Hisham Syed Wazir, who is now the Managing Director of Edaran Otomobil Nasional (EON) Bhd.
The charismatic Nik Hamdan brings a valuable 18 years of automotive experience to his new role in Honda Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. A graduate of the University of Wales in Cardiff, United Kingdom with a Msc. in Business Administration, Nik Hamdan joined HICOM Berhad in 1985 as the Assistant Manager in Corporate Planning.
In 1987, he was transferred to Proton Berhad’s Business Division and later in 1991, he anchored the Wira model development. Four years later, Nik Hamdan became the Deputy General Manager for Market Planning and Development in Proton Corporation Sdn. Bhd. before moving to DRB-HICOM Export Corporation as the Deputy General Manager of Business Development and Planning.
When DRB-Oriental-Honda Sdn. Bhd. (former name of Honda Malaysia) was established in 2000, Nik Hamdan played an instrumental role in the formation of the company as the Deputy General Manager of the Sales and Distribution Division.
In 2003, he was promoted to General Manager of the Sales and Marketing Division of Honda Malaysia.
