Lucky Ford Owners Win House & Car in Ford Carnival
IPOH CONTRACTOR WINS RM250,000 HOME IN FORD CARNIVAL PROMOTION
SUBANG JAYA, 13 April 2005 – – A building contractor from Ipoh thought it was a late April Fool’s joke when told he had won the Ford Carnival promotion grand prize of a RM250,000 house in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya.
Mohammad Iskandar Abdul Rahman did not believe the news until he received an official letter from Ford Malaysia announcing his win. The Ford Carnival promotion was open to those who purchased a new Ford vehicle from December last year to end February this year and offered fabulous prizes worth over RM500,000.
“I’m shocked. All I did was send in the entry form when I registered my new Ford Escape 2.3L VICS at the Ford dealer’s office in Ipoh. I didn’t expect it and in fact I forgot all about it. If you asked me what the slogan was, honestly I can’t remember it. I’m truly excited as this is my first time in my life that I won something as big as this,” said an elated Mohammad Iskandar who was accompanied by his wife to the prize giving ceremony.
Mike Pease, Managing Director of Ford Malaysia and Alex Chang, Director Motor Group, Ford Operations presented the two main prizes to the winners at the site of the grand prize house in Section 10 of Putra Heights in Subang Jaya today.
The Escape is the second Ford vehicle purchased by Mohammad Iskandar who already owns a Ford Ranger XLT 4X4 Manual that he bought in 2001.
He said the Ranger pick-up was ideal for his work as a contractor because he can transport a lot of building materials during the course of his work. And when he drove a friend’s Ford Escape, he liked it and decided to test drive the Ford Escape 2.3L VICS.
In a remarkable coincidence, the first prize in the Ford Carnival promotion consisting of a 2.0L Ford RS Lynx worth RM113,000 was driven off by a contractor who also hails from Perak.
Soong Fook Lye, a plantation contractor, has been the proud owner of a Ford Ranger Hurricane 4X4 Automatic that he received two weeks after the Chinese New Year.
“It is an excellent buy. I use it as a personal vehicle and also to transport fertilizer and other things. One of my brothers and a neighbour are both using the Ford Ranger. My eldest brother has two other pick-ups. But I decided on the Ford Ranger because it is well designed, has good power and it’s built tough,” he said.
The winners of the Ford Carnival promotion were decided based on the best slogan that described the reason they choose a Ford vehicle.
Pease said, “We wanted to give our customers something to celebrate and what better way than to fulfill the dream that most of us wish for – to own your own home and car.”
Customers who bought a Ford vehicle during the Carnival promotion were not only rewarded with fortnightly prizes consisting of 48 Sony Ericsson P910 mobile phones worth RM2,999 each but they also received additional accessories.
The Ford Hurricane 4×4 came with a Thule Lapland Tray worth RM2,500 while the Ford Everest XLT Auto came with a Thule Expedition Tray worth RM2,000 and the 2.0L Ford RS Lynx came with a Recaro seat upgrade worth RM5,000.
All Ford Everest, Ranger, Lynx and Escape vehicles come with a 3-year/100,000km warranty, whichever comes first.
