Obama-nia: US President Elect’s former Chrysler 300 on e-bay

Obama chose boring grey, but then again he is a centrist politician and they tend to gravitate to inoffensive mid-hues

Before Barack Obama became the democratic presidential candidate he used to drive a cool car, the Chyrsler 300, but as he sought the nominations the 300 would not do so he switched it for a politically correct and environmentally aware Ford Escape Hybrid.

Now it seems that his 300 has found its way onto online auction site e-bay.

It’s not much to look at but the 300 is based on Mercedes underpinings, this is the closest that the Daimler Chrysler  concern got to building a car together. In a way it is a kind of apt car for a President Elect who isexpected to bridge the gap between the USA and the rest of the world. Let’s hope his achievements are graeter than the cooperation between Daimler and Chrysler

So how much is a an ex-Obama Chrysler 300 worth? Wel it seems that the opening bid was USD100K and there is every reason to think that this car is museum materia, after all this will be the only Chrysler 300 in the world, or rather the only known car in the world that used to belong the America’s first non-white president.

Whoever wins teh bid will have the headache of keeping the car in pristine condition until a time when a Museum is ready to take it.

It may not be gold standard investment but it is certainly far more interesting than an ingot of shiny metal.
