The respective engines continue to be the 1.9L VGS turbo intercooler diesel and the 3.0L VGS turbo intercooler diesel engine. Power output are 150 PS (148 hp) @ 3,600 rpm and 350 Nm @ 1,800 – 2,600 rpm, and 190 PS (187 hp) @ 3,600 rpm and 450 Nm @ 1,600 – 2,600 rpm respectively. These engines are also now compliant with Euro 4 standards.
As for the transmissions, the D-Max comes with either a 6-speed manual with shift indicator and reverse gear lockout, or a 6-speed automatic with sequential shift, depending on your preferred variant. All 4×4 variants also continue to include rear differential lock as standard. New for the Premium and X-Terrain variants is the Rough Terrain mode which manages engine power, brakes and torque transfer to optimise traction, regardless of the transmission mode you’re in i.e. 2H, 4H or 4L.
The D-Max facelift sees changes to the front, rear, and interior. The entire facade gets a refreshed look with new bonnet, new Bi-LED headlights, new ‘fang’ grille with honeycomb lattice on the lower end, new bumper and accents, and an air curtain at the foglamp housing. At the rear, the D-Max gets tail lights and a new tailgate. The range-topping X-Terrain receives a new tailgate handle that is lockable making it more secure when you install a canopy or lid. The side profile remains except the X-Terrain has more prominent matt grey overfenders to differentiate it from the others.
In the cabin, updates include a new Miura design inspired by Japanese origami on the dashboard and door panels, e-Lumax multi-info display, and Type C USB ports. You can expect most of the new kit to be found especially in the Premium and X-Terrain versions, with the latter naturally getting all of them.
This includes ambient lighting, dual zone climate control, 10″ infotainment touchscreen (Premium has a 9″) with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, combination leather seats with anti-vibration comfort foam, 8-way powered driver’s seat with lumbar support, 2-tone leather wrapped multi-function steering wheel, Around View Monitor with 3D image guide. Other notable features include a wireless phone charger, auto dimming rear view mirror, and 8-speaker surround sound system. New for the Premium is a digital video recorder.
In the D-Max X-Terrain is a new generation of Allsight safety suite with new stereo cameras with a wider field of vision. Forward detection ability has now been improved to 150 metres from 120, and includes pedestrian detection. A new update is the Rear Cross Traffic Brake. Other driver assistance features include Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Turn Assist, Automatic High Beam and Multi-collision Brake.
The 2024 Isuzu D-Max is available in 5 colours i.e. Namibu Orange Mica (new), Islay Grey, Onyx Black, and Dolomite White Pearl.
The D-Max X-Terrain is covered by a 7-year unlimited mileage warranty while all other variants are covered by a 5-year (or 150,000 km) warranty.
