Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia Launches New Range Rover L460

Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia has launched the new Range Rover L460 premium SUV. The 5th generation luxury all-wheeler features Land Rover’s take on modernist design with a contemporary interpretation of its trademark profile. It is a philosophy of precise lines and reductive surfaces combined with advanced technologies.

Its distinctive design is defined by uninterrupted edge, and strong sculpture, with flush elements (such as the door handles) to accentuate the clean and smooth body that provides for a more aerodynamic 0.30 Cd value. Notable design elements include the hidden-until-lit tail lamps, and characteristic fascia.

The new Range Rover is designed on the MLA-Flex (Modular Longitudinal Architecture) body architecture, which makes it 75 mm longer and up to 50% stiffer than the preceding model, thanks to the use of aluminium alloy and high-strength steel. Together with the sculpted and predominantly aluminium body, noise transmission has also been improved by 24%, and allowing for the Range Rover to strike a balance between strength, weight and efficiency.

Physically, the roofline is lower by 10 mm to reduce the frontal area of the vehicle without compromising interior space. The interior is filled with tactile materials and designed with a reductive nature. Prominent on the dashboard is the Pivi Pro infotainment system featuring a large 13.1″ curved floating glass touchscreen with haptic feedback. This is complemented by an equally sizable 13.7″ Interactive Driver Display with a configurable layout. The driver will also enjoy the ClearSight Ground View that includes a 3D surround camera to show a through-bonnet view, and also a roof-mounted rear-facing camera to an unobstructed rear view when the boot space is filled. Further, manoeuvring lights illuminate the ground at low speeds to help guide the driver safely in tight spots.

The cabin also features a 3rd generation Active Noise Cancellation system to provide one of the quietest cabins on the road. It builds on the hushed and sealed body architecture by using accelerometers and microphones on the outside to create quiet zones for the occupants of the 5 seats.

Occupant comfort is further enhanced with the next-generation Electronic Air Suspension system that can automatically lower the ride height when cruising above 105 km/h, and primes the vehicle to approach corners with ease. Taking corners is aided by the All-Wheel Steering system which provides for greater high-speed stability and tight turning circle of less than 11 metres (kerb to kerb). Another key feature is the active brake cooling.

Providing power for this luxury SUV is a 4.4L V8 engine with twin turbos, offering 530 PS @ 5,500 – 6,000 rpm and 750 Nm of torque @ 1,800 – 4,600 rpm. This power is sent via an 8-speed automatic with twin-speed transmission to the all-wheel-drive system, and enables the Range Rover to do a 0 – 100 km/h sprint in 4.7 seconds.
