More Than 4,300 Bookings Already Collected Before Launch Of Updated Perodua Myvi

Perodua Myvi_Front_1.5 AVWithin 9 days of announcing that the Perodua Myvi will be launched, Perodua dealers had collected a total of 4,303 bookings for the car. Anticipating an uptick in demand, Perodua had already prepared inventory for deliveries immediately the next day. Coincidentally, this updated 3rd generation Myvi is launched about the same time as its predecessor in 2017. At the time, it represented a milestone for the company in producing its own car design (aside from the Bezza).

The new Myvi costs RM50 million to develop as it is more than a cosmetic change (new headlamps, daytime running lights, etc). Besides a sportier look, the car has also been updated with more intelligent safety features and improved fuel economy. There is also a new colour available.

Perodua Myvi_Cargo Space_Flexible Seat Configuration (60-40 Fold)“We are thankful to our customers and to all Malaysians for the support shown to both Perodua and the New Myvi,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad said. With the enhancements offered, Perodua is expecting to register about 6,000 units a month, which would enable the compact car company to maintain sales interest in the Myvi.

“The Myvi has struck all the right cords with Malaysians and has been widely accepted by the people. This new offering is to ensure that our valued customers are getting the best value as possible,” Dato’ Zainal said.

The Myvi range consists of the range-topping 1.5L AV (Advance Variant), 1.5L H variant, 1.5L X variant, 1.3L G and 1.3L G Basic. Prices will range from RM45,700 to RM58,800 (Peninsular Malaysia, without insurance and excluding Sales Tax).

This system, designed with the safety of the driver and pedestrian in mind. PDSA has 4 features i.e. Advance Safety Assist (ASA); Driving Assist; Parking Assist; and Head Lamp Assist. The full suite of these features can be found in the 1.5 AV variant, which qualify it as a car with Autonomous Level 2 technology.

“This is the first time in Malaysian history that a car company is offering an Autonomous Level 2 technology to a model under a RM60,000 price tag,” Dato’ Zainal said.

Another change is the new transmission. The Myvi range will now use the Dual Mode CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) in place of the old 4-speed automatic transmission; there is no more manual gearbox offered. Other than that, the engine remains largely unchanged.

“The Dual Mode CVT will further enhance transmission efficiency, is light weight and compact sized, provide powerful and smooth acceleration at low speeds and will make the vehicle quieter while increasing fuel efficiency,” Dato’ Zainal added. With this improvement, the new Myvi is said to have up to a 5% improvement in fuel efficiency, or an additional 1 km for every litre of fuel, as well as improved acceleration by about 20%. There is however, a Power mode button should you not feel like saving.

“The increased fuel efficiency of the New Myvi is our commitment towards lessening our impact to the environment and working towards our goal of becoming a carbon neutral organisation,” Dato’ Zainal said.

All variants except the 1.3 have USB charging for the rear passengers (housed in the backrest of the driver’s seat). Additionally, the touchscreen infotainment unit found in the higher variants has Smart Link, HDMI and Bluetooth connectivity, but there doesn’t seem to be Apple CarPlay nor Android Auto just yet.

The respective retail prices are:

  • 1.3 G Basic – RM45,700
  • 1.3 G PSDA – RM47,700
  • 1.5 X – RM49,900
  • 1.5 H – RM53,900
  • 1.5 AV – RM58,800

Exterior colour choices are Ivory White, Glittering Silver, Lava Red, Granite Grey, and Electric Blue. Exclusive to the AV variant is the new Cranberry Red colour in place of Lava Red. As usual, there is a range of official Perodua GearUp accessories to further enhance your Myvi. These accessories have a 1-year warranty and instalment plans are available.

Since its launch in May 2005, Perodua has sold about 1.3 million units of the Myvi. The 3rd generation makes up nearly 280,000 of this total.

In addition, Perodua is introducing another value-added all-inclusive vehicle subscription service called Perodua EZ MOBi which will assist companies in managing their vehicle fleet from the time of procurement, servicing and fleet replacement.

“In essence, EZ MOBi represents Perodua’s value contribution towards its customers’ growing mobility needs. The overall package includes vehicle registration, insurance renewal, servicing cost, part replacement cost, courtesy car, vehicle disposal and replacement under one subscription plan,” Dato’ Zainal said. “The value offering of this service is that Perodua EZ MOBi provides end-to-end convenience to our customers as various packages are available to fit each client’s mobility needs”.

One of Perodua EZ MOBi’s uniqueness is that its subscription plan factors in all costs of owning and operating vehicles, except fuel usage. For now, this new service is only available in the Klang Valley and only for business entities and government agencies.
