Locally Assembled BMW 630i GT M Sport Gets Updates

The BMW 630i GT M Sport was first launched by BMW Malaysia in 2017 as a locally-assembled model, and in 2021, this grand tourer gets updates to keep it… up-to-date.

BMW 630i GT M Sport_Laserlight Headlights_GrilleThe facelift sees the BMW 630i GT M Sport get redesigned LED headlights, a new and larger kidney grille, new wing mirrors and new bumpers. The newly available BMW Laserlight with high-beam assistant adds dynamic laser illumination technology to the LED Matrix headlights system to ensure better visibility for night-time driving. The laser light follows the course of the road ahead in high-beam mode, and for the first time, adapts illumination even in low-beam mode. In laser high-beam mode, the range increases to a maximum of 650 metres – nearly twice as much as that of conventional high-beam headlights.

The updated 630i GT M Sport also gets a change in wheels, sporting 20″ M light alloy wheels in Star-spoke style 817 M Bicolour with mixed run-flat tyre sizes. M Sport brake callipers painted in blue, with “M” designation, further accentuate the sportiness of this Gran Turismo, while the M high-gloss Shadow Line frames its athletic silhouette.

As a performance-oriented long-distance tourer, the car features an active rear spoiler on the tailgate which increases downforce at higher speeds. The active rear spoiler automatically deploys at 120 km/h and retracts when you slow down to 80 km/h. However, manual operation of the spoiler is available via a button on the centre console. For added convenience, the new BMW 630i GT M Sport also comes with the Comfort Access System and BMW Display Key.

“The hallmark BMW DNA is enduring even in our niche models. With its distinctive vehicle character, the New BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo occupies a class that is unparalleled in the automotive world, and yet is still undeniably BMW. It is a privilege for us to be able to meet the varied requirements of modern and discerning customers, with a BMW that combines long-distance comfort and sporting ability, with luxurious interior and intelligent functionality – for when we can enjoy travelling again,” commented Hans de Visser, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia.

The 630i GT M Sport continues to be powered by a 2.0L inline four-cylinder turbo petrol engine capable of a maximum output of 258 hp and torque of 400 Nm. It has a top speed of 250km/h and can do the century sprint in 6.5 seconds. Fuel consumption is rated at 7.3 litres per 100 kilometres, with CO2 emission at 166 g/km.

The cabin gets High Gloss Black control buttons in the centre console and instrument panels in Sensatec for an elegant look.

From the driver’s seat, the standout feature is the fully digital instrument display along with the central Control Display which has been increased to 12.3″ from 10.25″. The driver also enjoys sports seats (as does the front passenger), M leather steering wheel and a head-up display.

Meanwhile, the rear seat bench provides comfortable full-sized seating for 3, along with generous legroom. The car’s occupants also enjoy automatic air conditioning with 4-Zone control. Additional comfort features include roller sunblinds – electrical for the rear window and mechanical for rear passengers’ side windows; and a two-part panoramic glass roof at just over one metre in length and 90 cm wide for a light and airy interior ambience. There is also a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system for on-the-road entertainment.
