Jaecoo J7 PHEV Gains Traction In Malaysia With Class-Leading Range And Safety

OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia continues to see growing market confidence in hybrid mobility, as the brand reports strong interest and uptake of its plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) offering – the Jaecoo J7 PHEV. With over 800 units registered within 4 months of its launch, the company sees the model as a key step in driving new energy vehicle adoption in Malaysia.

Launched in February this year, the Jaecoo J7 PHEV features the brand’s proprietary Super Hybrid System (SHS) and delivers a class-leading NEDC-rated range of up to 1,300 km per full tank and charge. Its pure electric driving range of 106 km positions it among the top in its segment, making it a compelling choice for drivers looking to bridge the gap between internal combustion and electric vehicle technology. Jaecoo J7_PHEV_Drive_Malaysia

OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia Vice President Emily Lek said the J7 PHEV addresses common concerns such as range anxiety while offering a refined urban and long-distance driving experience. She noted that the combination of full-electric driving capability and a highly efficient hybrid system delivers versatility for both city and highway use.

The brand is also investing in hybrid education efforts as consumer awareness remains in its early stages. PHEV familiarisation sessions are being conducted to support customers throughout their ownership journey, reinforcing the company’s commitment to post-sale engagement.

At a recent customer appreciation event, OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia celebrated the handover of 100 units to early adopters of the J7 PHEV. Among them was Manivannan Manickam, who shared his satisfaction with the transition from an internal combustion engine to hybrid. “Our J7 PHEV has been great so far. It’s comfortable for the whole family, and we can go long distances without refuelling. I am glad I chose this car, it fits my needs perfectly and I foresee that I will be driving it for many years to come,” he commented. Jaecoo J7 PHEV_Customers_Handover

Another customer, Singaporean Ian Chan, made the drive up to Malaysia for the occasion, expressing his enthusiasm for the vehicle and the opportunity to meet fellow owners. “I’ve had my J7 PHEV for a few months now, and I’m enjoying the experience so far. I drove it up to Malaysia just to attend this gathering and meet other J7 PHEV owners, as we don’t yet have such community events in Singapore yet. Looking forward to the next one!” he said.

Meanwhile, Malaysian owner Andy Wong also highlighted the value of the hands-on learning experience during the event. “I specifically wanted to get the hybrid version of the J7, and waited for it to launch in Malaysia. The features are great, the car looks good, and it drives very well too. I was able to learn more about my car at this event, especially about the hybrid technology and how to maximise range.”  Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia_J7 PHEV_Owners

Powered by a Super Hybrid System, the Jaecoo J7 PHEV delivers 255 kW (342 hp) and 525 Nm, while consuming only 4.77 litres per 100 km (based on NEDC cycle) in power-depleted mode. Further, its Intelligent Drive Modes give drivers the flexibility to optimise fuel economy or enjoy peak performance.

Priced at RM158,800, the J7 PHEV includes a comprehensive Level 2.5 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and features such as 8 airbags, Driver Monitoring System, Lane Departure Prevention, and Adaptive Cruise Control. Its 18.3 kWh LFP battery is engineered for tropical conditions, remaining resistant to heat and flooding — a key consideration for Malaysia’s climate. Omoda Jaecoo_Super Hybrid System_Guardian Battery Management System

The company hopes that the J7 PHEV, with its combination of performance, efficiency, safety, and real-world usability, will become a standout choice in Malaysia’s growing hybrid SUV segment.
