Proton e.Mas 7 Is Best-Selling EV In Malaysia For Third Straight Month
The Proton e.Mas 7 continues sales momentum as Malaysia’s top-selling electric vehicle (EV), maintaining its segment lead for the third consecutive month. According to PRO-NET, a subsidiary of PROTON, a total of 1,853 units were delivered in the first quarter of 2025, with 797 units sold in March alone. With this strong performance, the company estimates that the e.Mas 7 holds a 30% year-to-date market share, solidifying its position as Malaysia’s No. 1 EV.
“We want to thank our customers for their unwavering support, and confidence in our Proton e.Mas 7 as well as trust that we can deliver an ecosystem that lets them enjoy their electrified driving experience. I also want to thank our dealers and partners for delivering an ecosystem that supports our customers’ requirements. This achievement encourages us to improve ourselves to deliver products of higher quality and give our customers a better ownership experience,” said Zhang Qiang, CEO of PRO-NET.
EV Mobility Made For Malaysians
Offered in Prime and Premium variants, priced from RM105,800 and RM119,800 respectively, the Proton e.Mas 7 is designed to offer value and accessibility for Malaysians seeking a shift to sustainable mobility. This EV features 33 storage compartments and a long wheelbase for enhanced interior space and comfort, alongside value for money and innovative technology.
Safety is another key highlight, with the e.Mas 7 powered by the AEGIS Short Blade Battery, engineered to endure the industry’s toughest ‘Six Extremes’ test. This includes resistance to extreme heat, saltwater corrosion, scraping, overweight rolling, and side collisions. The battery also delivers a reliable WLTP range, proven during a live test using the Prime variant.
Comprehensive EV Ecosystem With The e.MAS App
To support EV adoption, PRO-NET has worked to ensure that Proton e.Mas 7 owners have access to over 2,300 public charging points in Malaysia. This is currently a coverage of more than 90% of the country’s public charging infrastructure. These charging points are operated by various providers such as Gentari, JomCharge, chargEV, DC Handal, Chargesini, Carput Zap, RExharge, and Charge+.
In addition, 75 DC fast-charging points (up to 120 kW) are available at selected Proton, e.Mas, and smart, dealerships nationwide. These locations help ensure convenient charging options, particularly for long-distance EV users.
To further enhance convenience, the Proton e.Mas app integrates all major charging point operators into a single live map. It also enables users to pay for charging sessions directly through the app. Since its launch, PRO-NET has recorded 1,145 charging sessions via the app over a three-month period.
“Our goal is not just to sell cars. We want to nurture a complete ecosystem that not only includes 36 dealerships with DC charging points and after-sales service but also the entire Malaysian EV charging infrastructure. We’re also working closely with CPOs (Charge Point Operators) to make EV ownership more convenient as we want our customers to have a seamless transition from ICE to EV, and enjoy their EV ownership experience,” said Zhang.
