Chery Malaysia Breaks Ground On RM2.2 Billion Smart Auto Industrial Park In Selangor

Chery Malaysia has inked an agreement with Legenda Beringin Holding Sdn Bhd, and officially broken ground for its new Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park in Selangor. This industrial park will be located within the Beringin High-Tech Auto Valley (Beringin HTA Valley), an 800-acre master-planned development undertaken by Legenda Beringin.
Spanning 200 acres, the industrial park is targeted for completion in 2026 and is projected to boast an initial production capacity of 100,000 vehicles per annum, with scalability up to 300,000 vehicles per annum. This is the latest investment by Chery Holding Group Co., Ltd in Malaysia, at a sum of RM2.2 billion over 5 years. Established in 1997, Chery is a Fortune Global 500 company.
This investment by Chery Holding Group Co., Ltd represents a substantial commitment to Malaysia’s automotive industry and positions Selangor as a key hub for advanced automotive manufacturing and technological innovation. The Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park anchors the first phase of development within the Beringin HTA Valley.
The remaining land within the Beringin HTA Valley will be dedicated to supporting infrastructure and developments aimed at building up automotive innovation, supply chain integration, vocational training, and technological advancement.
“Chery is proud to be an integral part of this visionary development, where we will establish state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, integrate cutting-edge smart technologies, and produce an extensive range of vehicles – from internal combustion engine (ICE) models to the latest in plug-in hybrid (PHEV), battery electric (BEV), and energy-efficient vehicle (EEV) technologies,” said Chery International President Zhang Guibing. “We are confident that once completed it will create high-value job opportunities, house a cutting-edge R&D centre, expand vehicle exports to neighbouring countries, strengthen Selangor’s role through a robust supply chain, and solidify Malaysia’s position as a leading automotive hub in ASEAN.”

Legenda Beringin Chairman, Chia Song Kooi added, “This project more than a land investment. It supports Malaysia’s aspiration of being a high-tech and sustainable industrial economy by 2030, which is in-line with the New Industrial Master Plan. We are grateful for the confidence placed in us by Chery, and for the dedicated support of the Selangor State Government, Invest Selangor, and many other local authorities and agencies. With unity, determination, and shared ambition, we are confident in making this vision a reality.”
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by His Highness Tengku Amir Shah, the Raja Muda of Selangor and Royal Patron of Invest Selangor, as well as YB Tuan Ng Sze Han, the Selangor EXCO for Investment, Trade, and Mobility. Other key figures from Chery included Chery Automobile Co., Ltd Chairman Yin Tongyue, and Chery Corporate Malaysia Executive Vice President Leo Chen.
The strategic partnership between Chery Malaysia and Legenda Beringin underpins Selangor’s growing appeal as a prime destination for high-tech automotive investments and reinforces Malaysia’s position as a key player in the regional automotive industry. The Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park promises to be a significant contributor to the country’s automotive landscape.
