The introduction of the all-electric Macan marks an important milestone for Porsche in Malaysia, as it adds to the brand’s growing portfolio of electric vehicles. “We are thrilled to introduce the new all-electric Macan in Malaysia. The Macan has long been a popular model since its debut, and we’re excited to begin delivering the all-new 2nd-generation model to our customers. Customer response has been overwhelmingly positive, with strong demand. The Macan is now also available for test drives at all Porsche Centres, and we can’t wait to see this outstanding electric SUV cruising on the roads across Malaysia,” said Christopher Hunter, Chief Executive Officer of Sime Darby Auto Performance.

Remmy Ng, Head of Region for Porsche Asia Pacific, highlighted Malaysia’s pivotal role in Southeast Asia’s EV landscape, “2024 has been a milestone year for Porsche, and Malaysia underscores its important role in the Southeast Asian region with highlights such as exporting the first Malaysian-assembled Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupé to Thailand and opening a new charging hub in Genting Highlands in partnership with Shell. Now, we round up the year with another spectacular model launch for the new and all-electric Macan, supporting Malaysia’s growing enthusiasm for electric mobility with a compelling SUV offer.”

The new Macan is built on Porsche’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture and features cutting-edge 800-volt technology and a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery. With a usable battery capacity of 95 kWh, the base Macan offers a WLTP range of up to 641 kilometres. Rapid charging capability allows the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just 21 minutes under ideal conditions. At 400-volt charging stations, a switch in the battery enables simultaneous twin-bank charging by effectively splitting the 800-volt battery into 2 batteries, each with a rating of 400 volts. This improves charging efficiency to up to 135 kW. Meanwhile, AC charging gets up to 11 kW and is suited for home use. Energy recuperation from the electric motors further enhances efficiency, with up to 240 kW of regenerative braking available in all-wheel-drive models. In the base Macan, maximum recuperation power is 200 kW. Porsche Macan_EV_Range

Each variant in the Macan lineup caters to different performance preferences. The base rear-wheel-drive Macan produces up to 360 PS (265 kW) with Launch Control. The Macan 4 and Macan 4S, both with all-wheel drive setup, deliver 408 PS (300 kW) and 516 PS (380 kW), respectively. While the range-topping Macan Turbo offers 639 PS (470 kW) and 1,130 Nm of torque. The Turbo achieves a 0 – 100 km/h sprint in just 3.3 seconds; with top speed maxed at 260 km/h. Naturally with increased power output comes decrease in driving range i.e. Macan: 641 km; Macan 4: 612 km; Macan 4S: 606 km; and Macan Turbo: 590 km. These figures represent official WLTP range based on the combined cycle.

The Macan’s exterior design combines Porsche’s signature styling with aerodynamic efficiency. Its proportions, enhanced by an 86 mm longer wheelbase, result in a dynamic stance that emphasises the vehicle’s sporty nature. The Macan measures 4,784 mm long, 1,938 mm wide and 1,623 mm tall. Notable features include a sloping bonnet, split headlights (matrix LED is optional), a sleek roofline, and a 3D rear light strip housing the Porsche logo. This is further enhanced with adaptive aerodynamics, including an active rear spoiler and cooling flaps, contributing to a low drag coefficient of 0.25. Overall, the Macan’s aerodynamic features, including gurney flaps and a sealed underbody, further optimise performance and energy efficiency.

There is also an optional off-road design package available for all variants, that changes the approach angle as well as increasing ground clearance to further improve the everyday usability of this SUV.

Inside, the Macan offers a blend of performance-focused design and everyday practicality. The longer wheelbase provides increased legroom for passengers, while the cabin layout lowers seating positions for a sportier driving experience. Rear passengers benefit from having more legroom, and luggage space has been expanded to 540 litres. Folding the rear seats increases cargo capacity to 1,348 litres. There is also an additional 84-litre frunk (front trunk) under the bonnet. Porsche has also incorporated eco-friendly materials into the interior, reflecting its commitment to sustainability.

The Driver Experience system in the Macan introduces a modern interface that combines digital and analogue controls. Key features include a 12.6″ curved digital instrument cluster, dual 10.9″ displays for the centre and passenger, and ambient lighting that also serves as a communication light. The infotainment system, based on Android Automotive OS, supports popular 3rd-party apps and integrates features like the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system for enhanced connectivity. The Voice Pilot executes commands quickly, while the Themes app allows drivers to customise interior lighting and display colours.

Driving dynamics remain quintessentially Porsche, with all Macan variants equipped to deliver exceptional handling and comfort. Rear-axle steering is available for the first time in this model, with a maximum
steering angle of 5 degrees, to improve low-speed manoeuvrability and high-speed stability. The Macan also features Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with new 2-valve dampers to enhance both ride comfort and performance. Also, the electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system in the Macan 4, Macan 4S, and Macan Turbo reacts within milliseconds to deliver optimal traction and stability.

The Macan comes equipped with advanced standard features such as Power Steering Plus, a Surround View system with Active Parking Support, 4-zone climate control,  BOSE Surround Sound System, and a 230V power outlet. Safety features and driver assistance systems are also comprehensive, providing peace of mind for drivers and passengers alike.

Porsche Malaysia also offers an extensive maintenance and warranty package for the first 2 years. The Macan high-voltage battery is covered by an 8-year (or 160,000 km whichever comes first) warranty. You can also opt for extended warranties of up to 15 years, ensuring long-term protection for their vehicles.

The all-electric Porsche Macan is now available for test drives and orders at Porsche Centres across Malaysia.
