Proton e.MAS 7 Tour Will Take Its First EV Around Malaysia
PROTON has launched the Proton e.MAS 7 Tour which will see its first EV celebrated a significant milestone today with the launch of the Proton e.MAS 7 Tour at its Centre of Excellence (COE). This exciting event marks the handover from Geely’s E5 Long Test Drive World Tour, as Proton prepares to embark on a new chapter of innovation and exploration with its all-electric vehicle (EV) across Malaysia. As the nation’s first EV brand, Proton e.MAS leads the way by launching a nationwide tour of this magnitude.
The Proton e.MAS 7 Tour offers Malaysians a unique chance to experience the vehicle firsthand as it travels more than 2,000 kilometers through diverse terrains and landscapes, including coastal roads and mountainous regions. Starting on 5 October 2024, the e.MAS 7 Tour will navigate through every state in Malaysia, beginning with Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor, before moving through Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan, Perak, Penang, Kedah, and Perlis. The tour will then pass through Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, before reaching East Malaysia, starting with Sabah and concluding in Sarawak.
“Proton e.MAS is proud to be embarking on this journey with the e.MAS 7. Our goal is to provide Malaysians
with an engaging experience of how it navigates our nation’s unique road conditions and climates. This tour
will not only celebrate our vibrant communities but also foster a deeper connection with our customers,” said
Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET.
Ahead of the official tour, the public will have the opportunity to get a closer look at the Proton e.MAS 7 during preview events in Putrajaya on 25 September, and in Shah Alam on 26 September. These events will offer a chance for visitors to meet the PRO-NET team and share suggestions for the best pit stops along the way.
The Proton e.MAS 7 is designed to withstand Malaysia’s diverse and often challenging road and weather conditions. Drawing inspiration from its development sibling, the Geely E5, which recently completed a 3,700-kilometer trek from China to Malaysia, this shared model has proven its resilience in extreme environments. The Geely E5 faced harsh conditions on its trek to Malaysia, including navigating through Typhoon Yagi and floodwaters, reinforcing the reliability of the shared technology between the 2 models.
“The Geely E5’s achievement of driving over 3,700 km from China to Malaysia is a significant achievement. This brand-new EV navigated tough weather, challenging road conditions, and even floodwaters. The durability, reliability, and quality of the Galaxy E5 highlight the engineering excellence behind the Proton e.MAS 7 — demonstrating how it will be a game-changer for our market,” Zhang Qiang added.
Proton’s strategy for expanding EV adoption in Malaysia includes fostering strategic partnerships and sharing knowledge to address concerns related to the EV segment. The company’s collaboration with Geely has allowed Proton e.MAS 7 to incorporate proven, world-first technologies, and offer a more sustainable and reliable solution tailored specifically to Malaysian conditions.
