Minister of Transport, Anthony Loke, had highlighted the widespread use of motorbikes in Malaysia, with over 16.7 million registered motorbikes. Nearly 83% of Malaysian households own a motorbike, making it the second most popular mode of transportation in the country. The rise in traffic congestion and the increase in gig jobs are also contributing to the steady growth of motorbike ownership.

iMotorbike’s research indicates that Malaysia’s GDP growth is likely to further boost the motorbike market. Sharmeen Looi, CMO and co-founder of iMotorbike, stated, “Nowadays, it is clear that motorbikes have become an essential mode of transportation for many Malaysians.
