Held at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) from 21 to 26 May, this year’s autoshow featured over 200 brands and exhibitors across 50,000 square meters, offering visitors a wide range of choices and experiences.
The autoshow attracted 223,876 visitors, a 17% year-on-year increase, surpassing all previous records and setting a new benchmark for future automotive events. The show featured 47 product launches, highlighting its importance as a vital platform for reaching Malaysian and regional consumers. Attendees had the opportunity to experience vehicles firsthand through interactive extended test drive routes and a challenging 4×4 off-road track, with a total of 6,263 test drives and rides recorded.
The Malaysia Autoshow 2024 showcased a diverse range of attractions, including concept vehicles, electric and efficient ICE vehicles, autonomous driving demonstrations, modified cars, classic automobiles, campervans, and military vehicles. The event also facilitated the exchange and signing of 15 MoUs and MoAs among industry players.
A key highlight was xEV models which accounted for 50% of the vehicles displayed. This aligns with the National Automotive Policy (NAP2020) and the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP2030) emphasising greener and more efficient technologies. These gatherings attracted international delegates from countries including Australia, Belgium, England, Indonesia, Japan, China, and Korea, enriching the understanding of the evolving automotive landscape.
“The impressive turnout and engagement at Malaysia Autoshow 2024 clearly indicate the robust interest and confidence in our automotive industry. As Southeast Asia’s recently anointed second-largest auto market, Malaysia has a strong foundation to propel the growth of this sector, particularly in electric vehicles, thanks to our well-established E&E sector. We are committed to supporting this growth to benefit our SMEs and workers in the automotive ecosystem. MITI looks forward to an even more exciting future Autoshow that strongly profiles not just the sector’s steady progress, but also our policy on promoting green mobility to help achieve the nation’s net zero target by 2050,” commented Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.
MARii CEO, Azrul Reza Aziz, expressed, “It was an eventful week and a heart-warming show of support from visitors who swarmed the halls of the Malaysia Autoshow this year. I would like to express my deepest, sincerest gratitude to all sponsors, partners, exhibitors, and most importantly, our visitors for their presence at this year’s Autoshow. This support has led us to be recognized by the Malaysia Book of Records as the Largest International Autoshow.”
The Malaysia Autoshow will return in 2025, potentially with a different setting and evolved themes as Malaysia takes on the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025.
