Chery Auto Malaysia Responds To Viral Complaint On Omoda 5 Brake Issue

Chery Auto Malaysia has provided an update on the Chery Omoda 5 complaint which was circulated in social media recently. Since 6 April 2024, the Chery’s customer care team has maintained close communication with the affected customer while its technical team conducted a thorough investigation into the reported issue of faulty brakes on the Omoda 5. As a matter of public interest, and for the other Omoda 5 buyers, Chery Auto Malaysia deemed it necessary to share the results of this matter.

The vehicle in question was also sent to Puspakom for independent assessment. The said Omoda 5 went through a 10-point inspection by Puspakom encompassing a brake test to evaluate various parameters such as efficiency, dynamic imbalance, run-out, residual force, and parking brake functionality, all aimed at ensuring optimal braking performance.Inspections carried out by both Chery Auto Malaysia’s team and Puspakom revealed no adverse findings. The customer has been duly informed of the investigation outcomes, with the Chery team providing detailed explanations and furnishing her with a comprehensive report encapsulating the findings of all inspections conducted.

The Chery Omoda 5 was introduced globally in April 2023 and has achieved significant success, with over 130,000 units sold (excluding China) up to March 2024. Notably, in Malaysia, the locally assembled Omoda 5 was launched in July 2023 and is seeing good demand.
