GWM Malaysia Taking Bookings For Ora 07
Great Wall Motor Malaysia has announced that it is taking bookings for the Ora 07. Its latest EV is expected to see an official launch soon and is part of a portfolio of brands and models which GWM Malaysia is planning to introduce to the country. At a media preview for the Ora 07, GWM also announced that the Haval H6 HEV hybrid SUV as well as the Tank 300 will be launched in Q2 and Q3 of 2024 respectively.
Measuring 4,871 mm long, 1,862 mm wide and 1,500 mm tall, the Ora 07 fastback EV blends modern design with retro, with oval headlights and flushed door handles. There will be 2 variants available for Malaysia i.e. Long Range, and Performance.
The Ora 07 Long Range runs a single motor providing 150 kW (201 hp) and 340 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the 07 Performance is a dual motor set-up with double the output i.e. 300 kW (402 hp) and 680 Nm. Both use a 83.5 kWh ternary lithium battery pack that can offer up to 640 km and 550 km driving range respectively (based on NEDC cycle). The Ora 07 can support AC charging up to 11 kW while its DC fast charging (CCS) can get up to 88 kW. The top speed of each variant is 180 km/h and 180 km/h respectively. Further, the Performance variant claims a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 4.3 seconds. A notable feature of the car is the electric adaptive rear spoiler.
“The GWM Ora 07 is a visual and technological marvel that epitomises the future of electric driving,” commented Mencius Meng, GWM’s Brand Director.
In the cabin, the Ora 07 has a sporty tri-dashboard and a T-shaped hollow centre console with rotating panels. The seats are dressed in premium leather with the front ones getting massage function. The cabin’s ambience is complemented by a dome-style panoramic sunroof and a smart air-conditioning system that delivers a 3-dimensional flow for improved cabin comfort.
“Our commitment to safety is manifested in every aspect of the GWM Ora 07, providing peace of mind through innovative technology and intelligent systems,” said Raymond Cheong, GWM Marketing Manager.
The Ora 07 had undergone rigorous testing, including China’s first intense EV rollover challenge, and the intersection collision challenge to simulate possible extreme real-life scenarios such as vehicle rollovers and side collisions. In the rollover test, its cage-like body structure provided protection with the A, B and C pillar as well as the roof receiving minimal damage while the vehicle’s structure remained intact. The battery also did not smoke nor catch fire.
Other standard active features of the Ora 07 includes lane departure system, lane keeping system, blind spot monitoring system, intelligent evasion, traffic sign recognition, 360-degree panoramic view, cruise speed limit, overspeed alarm and others.
The Ora 07 comes in 3 exterior colour choice i.e. Jade White, Amethyst Grey, and Crystal Purple while the interior comes in either black or brown.
