Hong Leong Industries Bhd Introduces TEKHNE Spare Parts For Bikes & Cars
Hong Leong Industries Berhad (HLI) has introduced its own TEKHNE (officially “TÉKHNĒ”) brand of spare parts for motorbikes and cars. The TÉKHNĒ brand comes under its latest venture, Tekhne Sdn Bhd, and mark a significant leap for the Hong Leong Group into the world of automotive spare parts. Currently HLI is involved in the manufacturing, assembly and distribution of Yamaha motorcycles, parts and services, in a joint venture with Yamaha Motor Co.
As a start, Tekhne will offer a comprehensive range of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Replacement Equipment Manufacturer (REM) parts for both 2- and 4-wheelers, to meet the needs of owners of various bike and car brands. Embracing the ethos of ‘Moving the Future’, TÉKHNĒ is committed to innovation, quality and customer satisfaction. Currently the brand’s portfolio includes brake discs, suspension, wheels, and lubricants. The products are available through stockists but there are plans to open one-stop solution centres.
The company sees the market for OEM and REM parts for 2- and 4-wheelers in Malaysia as a growth sector and is poised for further expansion. This will be driven by factors such as growing vehicle sales, aftermarket service demand, and an increasing number of enterprises in the automotive products market. The value added in the Automotive Products market in Malaysia is projected to reach US$8.32 billion (RM39.74 billion) in 2024, and the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) is expected to be 5.71% from 2024 to 2028. Furthermore, the used car market in Malaysia will also contribute to the growth of the automotive aftermarket service industry, and will result in a rising demand for replacement parts.
“Our journey into the automotive spare parts industry reflects not only our dedication to innovation and growth, but also our steadfast commitment to providing our customers with the highest standards of quality and reliability. With TÉKHNĒ, we embark on a path of boundless opportunities, aiming to pioneer advancements in technology and design while ensuring optimal vehicle performance and safety for the road ahead to success,” commented Professor Dato’ Dr. Jim Khor, Group Managing Director of HLI.
General Manager of TÉKHNĒ, Mr Chong Chee Kong added, “At TÉKHNĒ, our commitment lies in providing a premium range of products tailored to meet the needs of our Malaysian customers. Through collaborations with esteemed partners, both locally and internationally, we ensure that our products uphold the highest standards of excellence and customer satisfaction. Looking ahead, we are poised to expand our footprint into the broader ASEAN region and subsequently tapping into global markets.”
According to Tekhne Sdn Bhd, the company will also look into electric vehicle-related products, aligning with the industry’s shift towards sustainable mobility solutions. It has plans to establish its own Research and Development (R&D) centre, aiming to pioneer advancements in technology and design as well as ensuring its products are of the highest standards in terms of quality and reliability. To further promote its brand, the company has a presence in the Malaysian Cub Prix through the Yamaha Tekhne AHM Motor Sports team.
