Toyota Continues To Lead Pickup Truck Segment

UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT) concluded 2023 with a leading position in the pickup truck segment. The 27,445 pickup trucks registered in 2023, saw Toyota emerge as the segment leader with approximately a 47.2% of the non-national market share. Overall for 2023, Toyota continued its leadership as the top non-national automaker, selling a total of 108,107 Toyota and Lexus vehicles, its highest-ever total sales. It estimates to have a 32% overall non-national passenger vehicle market share (Toyota only). In the SUV segment, the brand sold 22,533 units, a 19.6% non-national market share. Toyota Vios_Road

Toyota also dominated in the the panel van segment, with 3,424 registrations in a market of 3,424, securing a 100% share of the segment.

In the first month of 2024, UMWT had recorded a sales total of 6,276 units, for both Toyota and Lexus.

The company had also recently expanded its network footprint with the opening of a new 3S dealership in Nibong Tebal, Penang. This strategic move is aimed at enhancing customer service and accessibility in the region, aligning with UMWT’s commitment of providing an accessible network for its valued customers. For February 2024, Toyota continues to expand consumer access to car ownership through its “Flow of Fortunes” campaign. This Chinese New Year promotion offers buyers up to a 100% loan for selected models, with cash rebates and free accessories worth up to RM4,500 available across a range Toyota models.

Buyers can enjoy broad promotional savings, including monthly purchase instalments starting from RM688 for the Toyota Vios, or RM658 for a brand new Yaris. In addition, the Toyota Service Savers programme offers convenient monthly instalments starting from as low as RM18.

Besides its sales activities, UMWT will be showcasing its commitment to carbon neutrality with the Beyond Zero event. This event will highlight Toyota’s multi-pathway mobility solutions which cater to diverse needs and uses, aligning with Malaysia’s vision for net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
