Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 Upgraded For 2024

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has made available the newly upgraded Mercedes-Benz GLA 200. Priced at RM258,888 (on the road without insurance for private registration in Peninsular Malaysia), this locally assembled SUV is the entry model into the brand’s SUV family.

Mercedes-Benz has upgraded the compact GLA with a more extensive equipment list. Included are a new radiator grille with central Mercedes-Benz star, single louvre, and accents in black, as well as a redesigned front bumper with visual underride protection. Additionally, the rear bumper now comes with a diffuser to accentuate the sportiness. Down in front, the apron has a simulated underguard in silver.

The upgraded Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 also comes with a modernised light signature featuring powerful LED High Performance front headlamps with Adaptive Highbeam Assist, and LED rear lights. The headlamps illuminate the road with a wide beam and pleasant warm-white light much more precisely and generously. The front fog lamps also spread the light widely and illuminate peripheral areas better for safer driving in challenging weather conditions. Completing its rugged urban look are a set of 18″ 5-twin-spoke light alloy wheels, aerodynamically optimised and painted in tremolite grey with a high-sheen finish. There is also a new exterior colour available i.e. Spectral Blue metallic.

Moving inside, the dashboard hosts the 10.25″ free-standing double screen for an enhanced open-plan architecture. The infotainment system is powered by the latest generation of MBUX. In combination with the 3 Navigation, Assistance and Services modes plus the 64 colour ambient lighting, there are numerous individualisation options. They can be conveniently operated via the touchscreen or the new touch-control panels on the steering wheel.

Furthermore, revision of the telematics system focuses on improved performance. In addition to new display styles and improved performance, there is a high level of connectivity. For example, Smartphone Integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is now available wirelessly. For further connectivity, the new GLA comes with USB Package Plus with 5 fast-charging USB-C ports (illuminated for ease of use). The comfort seats are upholstered in black ARTICO man-made leather, and the rear seats fold to offer load carrying flexibility.

For safety assistance there is the Blind Spot Assist and Exit Warning Assist features, along with Active Brake Assist to mitigate the consequences of a collision. This assistance system can help to avoid collisions with moving or stationary vehicles in front. The new GLA also comes with Parking Package with reverse camera and Mirror Package.

Further, the DYNAMIC SELECT modes are accessible via the steering wheel touch-control panels or the central display. The different drive programmes alter settings for the engine, transmission, suspension, and steering. With SPORT mode, driving is emphatically dynamic while in the basic COMFORT mode, it is more balanced. ECO mode, on the other hand, focuses on efficiency, saves fuel and money.

Adding to that, the KEYLESS-GO Comfort Package allows you to open, start and lock your vehicle simply by carrying the key with you. HANDS-FREE ACCESS also lets you conveniently open and close the tailgate with a kicking motion under the bumper. The EASY-PACK tailgate provides electrically powered opening and closing for easier loading and unloading.

For extra ease of mind, the GLA comes with GUARD 360° vehicle protection which provides all-round monitoring of the vehicle’s surroundings. For instance, the anti-theft alarm system and tow-away protection gives out visual and audible warnings. Included also is TIREFIT and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Providing drive for the GLA 200 is a 1.3L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine paired with a 7G-DCT automatic transmission. Available power is 163 hp and 250 Nm of torque which allows for a 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time of 8.9 seconds.
