Chery Auto Malaysia To Double 3S / 4S Centres In 2024; 3 New Models Planned
Chery Auto Malaysia is gearing up for an exciting 2024 with plans for network expansion and new model launches. This year, it plans to nearly double its existing 3S / 4S dealership network from 18 to 34. Overall Chery has a total of 32 dealerships in Malaysia, and the expansion this year will take that up to 48. It is also planning to add 6 body & paint centres to make it a total of 16 in 2024. With this plan, Chery expects to have a total staff strength of 900 nationwide covering sales and aftersales.
According to Network Development Director, Soon Boon Ping, the company’s plan employs geographical expansion with strategic partnerships prioritising scalability and future-proofing. The company will also invest in training and skills development in line with the expected growth in demand in terms of sales and aftersales.
At the Chery Annual Business Briefing, Chery Auto Malaysia Vice President, Lee Wen Hsiang, shared that Chery had delivered 4,501 vehicles to customers in 2023. The company only started delivery of its locally assembled vehicles in September. “It has been an interesting year for Chery, from the day we launched our products in July to delivering our vehicles to our customers 2 months after (September),” he commented.
He added that despite negative comments targeting Chery when it re-entered the Malaysian market, the brand steadfastly focused on customer satisfaction by providing effective solutions to issues faced by the customer. He further assured that this commitment remains a top priority for Chery in 2024, emphasising the brand’s dedication to ongoing improvement and customer satisfaction. Lee added that Chery also conducted a sales satisfaction survey with more than 1,000 of its customers and they had given the brand a high score of 94%.
At the briefing, Product Director, Michael Chew, also shared the company’s plans for 2024. Aside from the obvious launch of the Omoda E5 in the first quarter (its first EV to be introduced here), it will also be looking at launching the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro SUV.
The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is powered by a 1.6L turbocharged petrol engine which produces 197 hp and 290 Nm, that is paired with a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. Initial information has the Tiggo 7 Pro wearing 18″ alloy wheels and fitted with a 24.6″ dual screen display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, panoramic sunroof, 8-speaker Sony premium sound system, 540-degree camera, ventilated front seats and 17 ADAS functions.
Chew also shared that Chery also has another model in the pipeline, to be introduced in the 4th quarter of the year. This model will be set at a more affordable price than its current line-up as the company looks to offer a mass market volume seller. No prices have been mentioned but it is said to be within or just below the RM100k range. We can also expect both these upcoming models to be locally assembled.
