All-New Hyundai Tucson Launched; From RM159k

The all-new Hyundai Tucson is launched in Malaysia. The fully imported 4th generation Tucson is available in 3 variants with prices starting from RM158,888.

The new Tucson’s ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design scheme is Hyundai’s new take on a striking style that features its new signature Parametric Jewel grille with integrated daytime running lights, chiselled panels, full-width tail lights, and angular wheel arches.

Meanwhile, the cabin has been designed with a wrap-around interior featuring a button-less centre stack beneath an 8″ infotainment touchscreen. Hyundai had been the earliest and still one of the few that provides wireless Android Auto / Apple CarPlay connectivity.

The 3 Hyundai Tucson variants are: Tucson 2.0 Lite, Tucson 1.6T Plus, and Tucson 1.6T Max. All variants are front-wheel-drive only, considering its main target market of urban travelers. The 2.0 Lite’s Smartstream MPI engine gives out 156 PS (154 hp) and 192 Nm of torque, and is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 2 more expensive variants are fitted with a 1.6L turbocharged Smartstream TGDi engine with 180 PS (178 hp) and 265 Nm of torque, that is paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (DCT) accessed through a push-button gear selection panel.

Hyundai Tucson_Sime Darby_Low Yuan Lung_Jeffrey Gan“With over 7 million units sold globally since its inception in 2004, the Tucson is Hyundai’s best-selling SUV model and a household name. This 4th-generation model, which we debuted at PACE 2023 last weekend to very encouraging response, brings the game to new heights, expanding upon the distinctive style, ergonomic practicality, clever packaging and advanced technology that the nameplate is known for,” said Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director, Southeast Asia, Sime Darby Motors.

Regardless of variant, the Hyundai Tucson gets 7 airbags including a front-thorax airbag, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, Blind Spot Collision Warning and Safe Exit Warning. The range-topping 1.6T Max naturally has more equipment, including 8-way powered and heated / ventilated driver and front passenger seats, a fully digital 10.25″ instrument panel, powered tailgate, auto wipers, wireless phone charger and a full suite of Hyundai SmartSense safety features, including Smart Cruise Control.

“The Tucson is arguably the vehicle with the most universal appeal in our line-up. Equally at home in urban and suburban settings, this is the most upmarket Tucson yet, with advanced technology and modern conveniences that make journeys safer, easier and more comfortable. Plus, its striking looks are guaranteed to turn heads, reminding you that you’re driving something special,” said Low Yuan Lung, Managing Director of Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors. 2023 Hyundai Tucson_Rear
