GWM Malaysia Offers EV To MITI For Study On Sustainable Transport Solutions
GWM Malaysia has offered the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) an ORA Good Cat EV for the study of sustainable transport solutions. President of Great Wall Motor ASEAN Region, Elliot Zhang, presented an ORA Good Cat 500 Ultra to YBhg. Datuk Seri Isham Ishak, Secretary General of MITI, that would allow MITI to conduct a series of test drives over the next few months to study more about electric vehicles and sustainability.
The Malaysian government has plans for the country to become a carbon neutral nation by 2054. GWM is also committed to promoting sustainable solutions and assisting Malaysia which had been a strong supporter of GWM’s efforts to introduce new energy solutions. This collaboration should help contribute to the country’s sustainability goals.
With Malaysia’s support, GWM will continue its efforts in developing advanced technologies for electric and hybrid vehicles, and contribute towards a greener and more sustainable future. GWM Malaysia is taking a proactive stance towards advancing electric vehicles and sustainable transportation solutions. The company has formulated a local strategy aimed at supporting Malaysia’s transition from fuel-energy vehicles to energy-efficient vehicles. It has plans to launch more hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and fuel-cell electric vehicles in the market.
With the intention to provide a more convenient EV charging infrastructure, GWM is working to establish a network of EV charging stations that are easily accessible and convenient for consumers to alleviate any concerns potential customers may have about the availability of a charging infrastructure to increase the appeal of EVs.
The ORA Good Cat is available in 2 variants i.e. Good Cat 400 Pro (RM139,800) and Good Cat 500 Ultra (RM169,800). The Good Cat runs with a permanent magnet synchronous motor which produces 105 kW (143 PS) and 210 Nm of torque. Top speed is limited to 152 km/h. The difference between the 400 Pro and 500 Ultra models is the driving range and battery type. The 400 Pro has a range of 400 km (NEDC cycle) while the 500 Ultra has a range of 500 km. The former uses a 47.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack while the latter has a larger 63.1 kWh ternary battery (a type of Li-ion).
