Toyota GR Corolla Launched In Malaysia; Priced From RM355k
In conjunction with the launch of Season 6 of the Toyota GAZOO Racing Festival is another highly-anticipated model i.e. the GR Corolla hatchback at a price starting from RM355,000 (on the road excluding insurance).
The performance-oriented GR Corolla is powered by the 1.6L 3-cylinder G16E-GTS turbo engine which produces 300 PS and 370 Nm of torque. It is fitted with a 6-speed short-shift intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) with auto rev match and sends the power through the GR-FOUR full time sports AWD system which is capable of splitting front and rear torque distribution to 60:40, 50:50, and 30:70, features reminiscent of the GR Yaris. This hatch can do the century sprint in 5.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 230 km/h.
The GR Corolla is compact, weighing in at 1,475 kg. Its physical dimensions measure 4,407 mm (length), 1,851 mm (width), and 1,479 mm (height), on a wheelbase that is 2,640 mm long. The front suspension are MacPherson struts and the rears, Double Wishbone with retuned springs, dampers and anti roll bars to help increase body rigidity and handling performance. It also comes with a triple exhaust system, a forged carbon fiber roof, sporty rear spoiler and vented hood, and Yokohama Advan tyres on 18” inch alloy wheels. Stopping power is done by 2-piece ventilated & slotted discs with 4-piston monoblock calipers in front, and ventilated & slotted discs with 2-piston monoblock calipers. There is also a Torsen limited slip differential.
Inside, the GR Corolla comes with a 12” full digital Multi-Information Display alongside a 9” inch Display Audio with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Standard also are a 6-speaker set-up, dual zone climate control, wireless charger, and front Digital Video Recorder.
It is also equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 which is the finest and most refined version of the driving assistance suite. This includes Pre-?Collision Warning, Lane Departure Alert, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control & Auto High Beam. Also included are ISOFIX points, Hill-start Assist Control, Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, and 7 airbags.
