Perodua Has Collected 20,100 Bookings For 2023 Axia

As of early yesterday, Perodua had collected 20,100 bookings for the 2023 Perodua Axia. Of this total, 13,600 are actually customers who had booked the superseded model while new bookings amounted to 6,500 cars. Perodua had officially accepted bookings on 31 January 2023.

But while Perodua’s sales advisors managed to convince 13,600 customers to switch to the new car, that represents only 31% of the total outstanding orders for the Axia model (i.e. 44,000 orders). These may be customers who want to see the real thing after the official launch yesterday (including the prices) before deciding. And these would be customers for Perodua to gain, or lose, depending on how the new model impresses them. Perodua Axia_Delivery

“Our focus are twofold, the first is maximising deliveries to our customers and to convert previous generation Axia bookings to the all-new Axia,” commented Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad.

At the launch, Perodua had presented mock keys to a group of Axia customers, and it is working to deliver about 2,900 Axias to buyers as soon as possible.

“We are thankful and encouraged by the support our valued customers have shown us – for this new model as well as for all our products and services,” Dato’ Sri Zainal added.Perodua Axia Launch_Malaysia

The 2023 Axia (D74A) is considered significant for the company as it projects to sell 5,700 a month. To meet this target, Perodua has set the Axia’s annual production target to over 82,000 units. Based on its earlier confirmation that its factories will produce a total of 330,000 cars this year, the Axia would make up about 25% of total production.

The Perodua Axia comes in 4 variants (G, X,  SE and AV), in 5 colours (Granite Grey, Lava Red, Glittering Silver, Ivory White, and the new Coral Blue), and priced between RM38,600 and RM49,500 (Peninsular Malaysia, excluding insurance).

It is powered by a 1.0L 3-cylinder engine paired with a Dual-Mode CVT to produce 69 PS and 91 Nm. Variants with the Eco Idle start-stop system (Axia SE and AV) have official fuel efficiency rated at 27.4 km/l  based on the Malaysian Driving Cycle test. Only the range-topping AV gets the bells and whistles which includes a digital multi-info display (like the Ativa and Alza), a 9″ infotainment touchscreen (without Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), and Perodua Smart Drive Assist and Advanced Safety Assist.Perodua Axia_Rear_Gear Up Accessories
