Isuzu Malaysia Records All-Time High Sales In 2022
As per its expectations, Isuzu Malaysia closed 2022 with a record-breaking 9,211 vehicles sold. This is just a few tens shy of doubling its sales achievement of 2021. It also sets a new record for the company with an all-time high, surpassing its previous record of 6,480 pick-up trucks sold back in 2016.
The company’s record-breaking year was largely propelled by buying interest in the 1.9L D-Max models that have proven to be due to its light running costs and modern design, features, and robust performance and safety. The 1.9L variants make up 79% of the total portfolio and have been the prime choice for Malaysians, particularly in Peninsular Malaysia where 55% of the pickup trucks are sold.
Also significant is the flagship D-Max X-Terrain variant which is a relative newcomer to the premium lifestyle pickup segment. With this variant, Isuzu has managed to penetrate the lifestyle buyers market, with 877 units delivered last year.
“Despite facing stock limitations from the factory, the 3rd-generation Isuzu D-Max achieved extraordinary heights in terms of market penetration. Thanks to its exceptional design and future-looking features, the latest generation Isuzu D-Max brings new levels of driving comfort and performance without losing any inherent Isuzu family traits. It is a true representation of a modern day pick-up truck,” said Isuzu Malaysia’s Chief Executive Officer Shunsuke Okazoe. Additionally, the top-of-the-line X-Terrain as well as various D-Max variants have been awarded ‘Pick-up Truck of the Year’ by numerous local media.
Isuzu has positioned the D-Max range to cater to various needs and wants, spanning from the highly versatile Single Cab to the exceptionally economical 4×2 Automatic Double Cab, 4×4 models and the premium X-Terrain.
“Our focus for this year will be to ensure that our customer experience remains positive as we aim to reduce the delivery times and to enhance our network. I wish to thank all our customers for their support and patience and also our partners who have helped us rise to the top despite the challenges faced in the supply of vehicles,” said Chief Operating Officer Kenkichi Sogo.
Further, the Isuzu D-Max has top 5-star safety rating from ASEAN ANCAP for better peace-of-mind, with the flagship X-Terrain coming with a ground-breaking 7-year unlimited mileage warranty.
