Great Wall Motor Malaysia Delivered First Batch Of Good Cats
Picking up from last year’s momentum for electrified vehicles is news of Great Wall Motor Malaysia’s delivery of the ORA Good Cat. GWM managed to gift-wrap the Good Cat before 2022 ended and make the delivery. The first batch of cars were meant for buyers who had placed the order before the official launch on 28 November 2022.
“We are proud to have delivered the first batch of ORA Good Cat, GWM’s first fully electric car to our Malaysian customers. As much as we value our customers, we hope that they enjoyed our surprise delivery of ORA GOOD CAT as a giant ‘holiday gift’ to their doorsteps! GWM is truly grateful for our customers’ trust and support, and this signifies the first milestone of GWM in bringing in new energy, new intelligence and new experience to Malaysian consumers,” said Mike Cui, Managing Director of GWM Malaysia.
One of the new owners, Ms Liow of Subang Jaya, shared, “I have always wanted to own an electric car. So when I first saw this car on GWM’s website, it’s unique cat-like design immediately caught my attention, and I just couldn’t take my eyes off it. As I have not owned an electric car before, I can’t wait to experience driving this EV and be the first few to drive ORA Good Cat on the road to showcase its beauty.”
Following this first batch of deliveries, GWM is working to deliver more cars to their customers in time for Chinese New Year. “We aim to deliver more ORA Good Cat electric vehicles in the coming weeks ahead of Chinese New Year and hope that our customers get to drive their brand new car around while visiting their friends and family during the New Year,” said Mike.
The ORA Good Cat is the first electric vehicle introduced by GWM Malaysia. The company has further plans to roll out about 9 models over 3 years. GWM will also begin local assembly of GWM cars in 2023 as a way to show its commitment in delivering to their customers as well as supporting the local economy.
Concurrently, GWM car dealer Superhub recently opened its first sales showroom in Puchong. “Great Wall Motor’s determination to establish a Malaysian subsidiary to serve the local market with a rich line of products and services, and user-centric approach gives us full confidence for future collaboration,” according to Superhub branch manager. Superhub is establishing another 4S service experience centre in USJ which is expected to begin operations in February 2023.
In an effort to grow more authorised service partners across the country to cover (mostly) the market centres of Penang, Kuala Lumpur, and Johor Bahru, Great Wall Motor has big plans to work with various partners. It seeks to establish 15 unified and multi-faceted terminal stores, mainly 3S stores, covering 70% of Malaysia’s capital cities by the end of 2023. GWM’s spare parts warehouse in Shah Alam has also begun operations and is working around-the-clock to ensure an uninterrupted supply chain and inventory.
GWM had been busy in 2022 with its commitment in ASEAN. Following the setup of GWM’s plant in Rayong, Thailand, and the establishment of local subsidiary Great Wall Motor Malaysia in July, the company followed up with the launch of ORA Good Cat in November.
Looking ahead, GWM is positioning the brand for growth in ASEAN with long-term investments in sustainable approaches. GWM also understands the challenges faced by electric vehicle owners who are early adopters of the car and is currently reaching out to key partners in the EV space to help strengthen Malaysia’s EV infrastructure. More details of these partnerships will be announced once it has been confirmed by GWM in 2023.
The GWM ORA Good Cat is available in 2 variants i.e. 400 PRO and 500 ULTRA. The 500 ULTRA version thus far seems to be the more popular choice with the first batch of buyers due to its extended 500 km driving range on a full charge. Furthermore, the car is also equipped with convenient features such as a massage seat for the driver as well as intelligent driving assist.
You can test drive the Good Cat at GWM’s authorised dealers in Glenmarie, Puchong, and Penang. Alternatively, for information, you can visit https://www.gwm.com.my or contact GWM’s call centre (1800-18-2882) or email an enquiry to support@gwm.com.my.
