Toyota Set To “Move Your World” With More Exciting Models In 2023

UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT) has shared details on the company’s new direction in Malaysia in 2023, running in line with Toyota’s regional vision to “Move Your World”.

Toyota_Move Your World“Move Your World is our realisation of a future mobility society, within our push to transition from an automobile company to a mobility company. Car ownership will be more convenient than ever, with delivery to your doorstep, holistic car maintenance assistance services, simpler ownership cost management, and much more. As society becomes more diverse, freedom of choice is increasingly more valuable, which is reflected in Toyota’s new offerings that include carbon-reducing Hybrid-Electric vehicles, carbon-neutral Battery-Electric vehicles and performance GR models. We will be announcing further details on these new offerings in 2023, so stay tuned,” said Ravindran K., President of UMWT.

In line with the “Move Your World” branding direction, Toyota has upgraded its website in Malaysia to strengthen a customer-centric web design concept. The revamped website features new user-friendly features and an easier interface to enable optimal engagement. The new features, which include a search function, branding pages, home page personalisation, and a preferred dealer setting, will provide visitors with a seamless web-browsing experience.

Ravindran K. also touched on Toyota’s green strategy for its portfolio which will be based on achieving carbon neutrality through a multi-pronged approach. “We believe there is no one-size-fits-all solution, and currently, Hybrid-Electric is the most viable way forward in achieving carbon neutrality”.

According to him, the company believes that HEVs are the most accessible and affordable option for car owners in Malaysia to begin their carbon-reducing journey. At least until the nation’s electrification infrastructure becomes more accessible. Mr Ravindran also mentioned that Toyota’s green lineup includes the carbon-reducing Corolla Cross Hybrid Electric, which will be joined by a second HEV in 2023 which most likely will be the all-new Innova Zenix. Like the Avanza / Veloz, the Innova has also been given a complete redesign from the platform up.

There is a high chance we will also be seeing the bZ4X battery electric vehicle (BEV) since it is already available in neighbouring Thailand and Indonesia. The introduction of this model could also see UMWT introduce a vehicle subscription option as a form of ‘ownership’.

Besides the ‘green’ vehicles, UMWT also has several exciting models planned; models with the GR badge e.g. GR86, GR Corolla, and the GR Supra (with a manual transmission offering). And don’t forget about the all-new Vios.Toyota_Vios_Yaris Ativ

But for now, UMWT aims to end the year with some deals. Promotions are available for the Toyota Yaris and Vios, with low monthly instalments starting from RM498 and RM598 respectively. For selected variants of either model, there will also be an additional RM4,000 discount.Toyota Vios GR-S 1.5

For 2022, the company is already in a positive trajectory. Having sold 90,595 (Toyota & Lexus) vehicles in the past 11 months, Toyota has maintained its lead position among non-national automotive brands in Malaysia. This is a lead UMWT wants to maintain in 2023 with the expected new models.

In November alone, UMWT sold 10,442 vehicles (Toyota & Lexus), which is a 23% increase over the 8,487 (Toyota & Lexus) in the same period last year.
