Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Partners Montfort Boys Town To Strengthen Skilled Workforce

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has entered into a partnership with Montfort Boys Town in Shah Alam to further strengthen the skilled workforce. The company signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Montfort Boys Town as a commitment to recruit and educate secondary students for its globally renowned Advanced Modern Apprenticeship programme. Montfort Boys Town, founded in 1959, is a learning institution dedicated to helping underprivileged youth gain an education and vocational skills to enhance their employment opportunities.Mercedes-Benz Malaysia_Training Academy_Apprenticeship

The 2-year MoU will begin with a ‘Train the Trainer’ programme where Mercedes-Benz Malaysia will provide technical skills and expertise training on current Mercedes-Benz models to Montfort Boys Town trainers. These trainers will then transfer the necessary knowledge and skills to the students. The training curriculum aims to expose and prepare interested students to the Advanced Modern Apprenticeship programme which is available upon their secondary school completion. An annual pre-enrolment assessment will be conducted for the students and those who successfully pass will be able to apply for the Advanced Modern Apprenticeship programme.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Training Academy_Apprenticeship ProgrammeMontfort Boys Town students who successfully enrol in the Advanced Modern Apprenticeship programme will receive full scholarship to be full-time trainees under Mercedes-Benz Malaysia. They will also receive a monthly allowance of RM800 throughout the 3-year programme and will be guaranteed employment upon graduation, with minimum salary in the first year. Graduates will also have more opportunities thereafter with Mercedes-Benz where they can progress into management positions within the customer services department after completion of their diagnostic level qualifications.

In conjunction with the MoU signing, a graduation ceremony was also held for the Advanced Modern Apprenticeship Programme classes of 2021 and 2022. A total of 99 trainees who completed their training are now globally certified technicians. The Best Student Award was presented to 2 students, Muhammad Syakir Badri Bin MD Nizam and Nur Feazah Binti Fuaad, who had excelled in every aspect over the 3-year course, which includes punctuality, work efficiency, proper use of tools, knowledge, safety consciousness, behaviour, interpersonal skills, work attitude and responsibility in their respective years.

The Advanced Modern Apprenticeship by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Training Academy programme is a 3-year apprenticeship course that covers a wide range of globally approved syllabuses and training guidelines by Mercedes-Benz Global Training with Mercedes-Benz Competence elements. The programme incorporates International Qualifications up to Level 3 and is recognised by the Ministry of Human Resources’ Department of Skills Development.

This programme will start with the 2022 intake. The new EHV syllabus will be added on the existing modules as part of the brand’s efforts to train and equip talents to be future-ready for the demands of mobility of tomorrow.

Since 1984, over 900 apprentices have graduated from the Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s Training Academy and are working with the brand’s authorised dealer network in various positions across different specialisations.
