Official Retail Price Of All-New Volkswagen Golf R-Line Announced
When the VW Golf Mk 8 range was launched in February 2022, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) hadn’t announced the official retail price of the R-Line variant. It now has the official price and it is RM169,990.

The Mk 8 Golf R-Line runs a 1.4L TSI turbo engine under the hood, which is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission from Aisin. The engine produces 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque for the front wheels. Furthermore, the are selectable driving modes, a progressive steering, sport suspension and XDS electronic differential lock to enhance the driving experience. And like the Golf GTI, the Golf R-Line also has a battery regeneration feature which works during braking.
The all-new Golf is built with a high level of safety as the frame is constructed with a combination of high-quality steel that is extensively engineered to provide maximum occupant protection in the event of an accident. Other notable safety features include Post Collision Braking System that prevents a second collision; Electronic Differential Lock to improve traction and reduce understeer; and 6 airbags.
The new Golf also integrates digital technology for connectivity and convenience. There is an intelligent voice control system that is activated by saying “Hello Volkswagen”, or by pressing the voice button on the steering wheel. It can recognise simple voice commands such as “I’m cold” and react accordingly, and in this case it will increase the cabin temperature.
The voice recognition is an improved version as cabin microphones are able to locate the person speaking e.g. driver or passenger, and in the case of cabin temperature, the system can then manipulate the 3-zone climate control system of the speaker’s zone.
Comfort within is enhanced with front sport seats fitted in Sardegna fabric and Art Velours side bolsters complete with the R-line logo embossed on the headrests. Further, the cabin features a 30-colour ambient lighting system which can be linked to the driving modes, or adjusted according to your mood and preference. There are 5 pre-set colour modes (Infinity, Eternity, Desire, Euphoria, Vitality) if you choose not to individualise the light ambience.
Space continues to be a priority in this iconic hatchback. It still offers a roomy cabin for the family, and the 381-litre luggage compartment can fit large pieces of sports or recreational equipment. Another smart feature of the vehicle is the quick entry access which automatically unlocks the doors when vehicle key is within the detection zone.
On the outside, the R-Line styling provides a sporty appearance, with gloss black treatment on the front and rear bumpers, and side skirts. This is complemented by LED headlights and tail lights; the headlights are joined by a horizontal LED strip across the grille. The sporty appearance further complemented by 17” Valencia alloy wheels and a pair of chrome-effect trapezoid faux exhaust tailpipes.
The VW Golf R-Line is available in 5 colours Moonstone Grey and metallic Kings Red, Atlantic Blue (metallic), Deep Black and Oryx White (pearl effect).
The Golf comes with 3 years of free maintenance, 5-year warranty (unlimited mileage), and 5 years of roadside assistance.
