Volvo Car Manufacturing Malaysia Appoints New Managing Director
Volvo Car Manufacturing Malaysia (VCMM) has officially appointed Gao Feng as its new Managing Director. Gao Feng is taking over the helm of Volvo Car Manufacturing Malaysia in Shah Alam from Xiao Liming, who had previously served the company from April 2019 until March 2022. Gao will assume the responsibilities of overseeing the company’s manufacturing of Volvo cars in Malaysia.
Prior to his appointment to Malaysia, Gao was at the Volvo Car Taizhou plant in Zhejiang, China, where he served as the Deputy General Manager since 2016. He played a key role in the launch of many Volvo Car models in the region.
“I am excited to embark on this new chapter with Volvo Cars in Malaysia. With the recent introduction of the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, I look forward to working with our partners to manufacture more electric vehicles in the Malaysian market for export to the ASEAN region,” said Gao Feng, Managing Director of Volvo Car Manufacturing Malaysia.
Gao has a Bachelor’s Degree in Material Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology, China. He brings with him more than 20 years of experience in the automotive industry. When opportunity affords him some spare time, he enjoys cycling & playing badminton with the family.
Volvo Car Manufacturing Malaysia is Volvo Car Corporation’s first assembly plant that was established outside of Europe, in 1966. The first car was rolled out from the plant in 1967. VCMM is a pioneer car manufacturing plant in Shah Alam, Selangor. The plant assembles Volvo car models for the Malaysian market and for export to neighbouring countries in the Asia Pacific region. Most notably, it recently built its first fully electric model, the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, leading the way as the first car brand to locally assemble a battery electric vehicle.
