2022 Proton Saga Updated With Features And Conveniences
PROTON has launched the 2022 Saga with updates to enhance the user experience of its bestselling sedan. There are 4 variants available i.e. Standard MT, Standard AT, Premium AT, and a new Premium S AT.
The new Saga Premium S AT variant offers a a sporty dark interior scheme, redesigned semi-leatherette seats, and floor mats with red edging. The steering wheel, wrapped in leatherette, also has matching red stitching and trim on its switches.
More red trim finishing can be found on the meter combination rings, air vents and in between the air-cond switches. Incidentally, the air-conditioning system of the Saga is fitted with a N95 cabin filter, like some of other Proton models, to filter out smoke particulates, dust, bacteria and other pollutants.
Improved convenient features include smart entry and automatic folding side mirrors which also unfold once the car is unlocked. There is also a push button start feature as well as a remote trunk release button on the key fob. Further, the 7″ touchscreen head unit now has the latest operating software and Bluetooth 4.2 for better wireless connectivity. It also pairs seamlessly with Android and iOS smartphones, allowing you to access your favourite apps while on the move. Furthermore, there is a friendly reminder that appears on the monitor once the engine is switched off, to remind you to check that you have not left any valuables or children behind. The 3 conveniently located USB ports for charging electronic devices are still there.
For the exterior, the 2022 Proton Saga is fitted with new front fascia with a horizontal red trim connected both headlights, as well as side skirts for a sportier look. This is complemented by new 15″ 2-tone alloy wheels. The rear section remains largely unchanged, with the 420L boot still offering ample luggage space which can be expanded by folding down the rear seats.
The proven 1.3L 4-cylinder 16-valve engine with DOHC and VVT continue to power the Saga. This engine with 95 PS @ 5,750 rpm and 120 Nm of torque @ 4,000 rpm is paired to either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox. The updated model also offers improved fuel efficiency and an ECO Drive Assist indicator to highlight / guide efficient driving.
Safety features for the 2022 Saga include 2 SRS airbags (standard across all variants), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA). All automatic transmission variants are also equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Traction Control System (TCS) to help maintain control in slippery conditions. Meanwhile, the Hill Hold Assist (HHA) feature allows you to confidently move off without worrying about slipping backwards on a slope. There is also a reverse camera paired with front and rear parking sensors to make parking manoeuvres in tight spaces easier.

The 2022 Proton Saga is available in 5 exterior colours i.e. Snow White, Armour Silver, Jet Grey, Rosewood Maroon and Ruby Red. It is priced as follows:
