Porsche Taycan GTS Capable Of 500 KM Driving Range

The Porsche Taycan GTS is the first Taycan variant to breach the 500 km driving range on a single charge. Placed above the Taycan 4S, and below the Taycan Turbo, the Taycan GTS has a potential range of 504 km based on the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure) result.

Porsche Taycan GTS_Wheel_Charging Port“We are driven by our passion for sports cars and sustainability as Porsche introduced the first all-electric sports car in Malaysia, – the Taycan – marking a new era of sporty electromobility. Since then, the Taycan model range has been well-received and today, we are bringing a new derivative that represents the sweet spot in the Taycan range, the GTS,” said Christopher Hunter, Chief Executive Officer of Sime Darby Auto Performance which represents Porsche in Malaysia.

GTS stands for Gran Turismo Sport. Since the Porsche 904 Carrera GTS of 1963, these 3 letters have held special significance for Porsche fans. Now, there is a derivative featuring this legendary combination of letters in every Porsche model series.

“The new Taycan GTS perfectly complements Porsche’s first cross-border high-performance charging network in partnership with Shell. This new sporty grand tourer will make cross-country, and even cross-border road trips both seamless and absolutely sublime,” Mr. Hunter continued.

The new Taycan GTS, with Premium Package as standard, is priced starting from RM708,000 (with SST exemption) and will be available in Q2 2022 in Malaysia.

The Taycan GTS is the sporty all-rounder of this EV range. It provides an impressive 440 kW (598 PS) of overboost power when using Launch Control and can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. Maximum speed is capped at 250 km/h. As the latest Taycan, the GTS features an updated efficient drive strategy which would be rolled out to the other variants in the new model year.

The Taycan GTS also gets model-specific adaptive air suspension, including Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), to enhance its lateral dynamics. The set-up of the optional rear-axle steering is also sportier. Furthermore, it has a modified Porsche Electric Sport Sound for a richer sound pattern.

The exterior and interior of the GTS are distinctive. Customary to GTS models are the numerous black or dark details on the exterior, such as the front apron, the bases of the exterior mirrors and the side window trims. Numerous Black Race-Tex features in the interior further adds to the elegant, dynamic ambience, as does the standard brushed aluminium interior package with Black anodised finish.Porsche Taycan GTS_Electric Sunroof_Sunshine Control

A new option for the Taycan GTS is the panoramic roof with Sunshine Control. This sunroof contains an electrically switchable liquid crystal film that can change the roof from clear to matte with the touch of a button, protecting you from glare but without reducing the bright cabin ambience.

The roof is divided into 9 segments that can be switched individually, a world’s first in the automotive sector. In addition to the Clear and Matte, there are another 2 settings i.e. Semi and Bold. These are predefined patterns with narrow or wide segments.

Along with the launch of the new Taycan GTS, Porsche Malaysia is also including the Premium Package as standard for the Taycan and Taycan Cross Turismo. The Premium Package includes enhanced specifications such as an on-board AC charger with 22 kW, Mobile Charger Connect, Charging Cable (mode 3), Home Energy Manager, Advanced Climate Control (4-Zone), electrically-folding exterior mirrors, passenger display and ParkAssist with surround view for enhanced overall driving comfort and pleasure.
