Carsome Celebrates Its 100,000th Car Seller Milestone

Carsome recently celebrated its 100,000th used car seller milestone in Kuala Lumpur. Touted as Southeast Asia’s largest online used car trading platform, Carsome reached this record in its fifth year of operation.

Since inception, Carsome has been focused on providing solutions to address industry pain points in a used car market marred with distrust, caused by a fragmented car-selling process and the lack of transparency.

Carsome Experience Center_Kelana JayaCarsome Co-founder and Group CEO Eric Cheng shared that the milestone today did not come easy. “One of the biggest challenges in our early days was getting people to trust and use the then new-in-market service. We started building trust by establishing a transparent and hassle-free used car-selling process. I am so proud that more than 100,000 customers in Southeast Asia have entrusted us in selling their cars; we are definitely looking forward to our one millionth seller, hopefully soon,” Cheng said.

Carsome has grown from a team of five employees to a 1,000-strong workforce in over 50 cities in five countries. This year, the company also launched several tech products, namely the CARpartner1 and CARdealer2 (previously known as CarsomeGO) apps to improve process and workflow efficiencies.

Additionally, Carsome has been receiving mainly positive reviews from its customers, seen through its high satisfaction rating online. In November 2020, Carsome is rated 4.7 out of 5.0 on Facebook and 4.6 out of 5.0 on Google in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.

“We have changed the way customers sell their cars. Our next step will be introducing a new way of buying used cars across the region after a successful launch in Malaysia three months ago. With customers’ continued support and confidence in our quality service, we are committed to continuously building Carsome into the most trusted brand. This will ensure that our customers continue enjoying the best experience, be it car-buying or car-selling,” Cheng added.

According to Cheng, Carsome will continue to invest in the digitalization and upgrading of its products to enhance the speed and convenience of car transactions. The company is also opening more retail centres across the region, bringing the new way of buying and selling cars in the automotive industry to more cities in Southeast Asia. Carsome will also be venturing into the technical education sector in the coming months with an aspiration to upskill the technical workforce through accreditation.

1 CARpartner is a mobile app that allows Carsome’s partners to make car inspection appointments, check appointment statuses, and get estimated car values instantly.
2 CARdealer is a mobile app that allows local used car dealers in Indonesia to browse and purchase used cars on-the-go, at their own comfort.
