Mitsubishi XPANDER Official Prices Announced

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has announced the official prices of its new Mitsubishi XPANDER. The official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia has revealed that the prices for its seven-seater crossover are:

• RM91,369 (Peninsular Malaysia)
• RM92,526 (Sabah)
• RM92,576 (Sarawak)
• RM87,043 (Labuan)

These prices are on-the-road without insurance, for private registration. They also reflect the PENJANA sales tax exemption which is valid until 31 December 2020, pending any further extension. It is also covered by a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty.

According to MMM, it has received over 2,000 bookings for the XPANDER. The XPANDER is the only new 7-seater launched in the sub-100k range in recent months (the other new 7-seater being the Tiguan Allspace).

Performance

The XPANDER is powered by a 1.5L aluminium block MIVEC petrol engine producing 105 PS @ 6,000 rpm and 141 Nm of torque @ 4,000 rpm. It is mated with a four-speed automatic transmission which should be tuned for fuel economy while maintaining adequate power delivery.

Exterior

There is only one variant of the XPANDER available and it is fitted with LED headlamps, LED crystal block position lamps and L-illumination LED tail lamps. The XPANDER also sits on 16″ dual-tone alloy wheels and has a ground clearance of 205 mm.

Interior

The XPANDER is claimed to have best-in-class cabin space with its body width measuring 1,750 mm and its wheelbase at 2,775 mm, offering comfortable legroom and shoulder room. Its overall height is 1,730 mm while its overall length is 4,475 mm.

The XPANDER is also the only one in its class with second and third rows seats which fold flat providing a more practical cargo space. Furthermore, it comes with under-seat multi-purpose storage, cargo floor box with lid, third row side pocket and cup holder, centre console box with sliding lid, multiple storage compartments and glove box with double compartment to store a multitude of items.

For comfort, the XPANDER has four roof-mounted air vents for better air distribution to the second and third rows. Also, outside noise if minimised by the acoustic windscreen and thicker windows. For entertainment, the XPANDER comes with a 9″ audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto-ready connectivity.

Safety

Safety features include Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-Force Distributor (EBD), Active Stability Control (ASC), Brake Assist System (BA) and Hill Start Assist (HSA). It is fitted with just two SRS airbags, but it should not be an absolute deal breaker when the seat belts are the primary restraint system.

As an aside, the XPANDER has a 4.2″ high contrast meter cluster which displays information such as engine coolant temperature and warning display for cruise control or low battery in the key fob.

MMM Authorised Dealer Package

Further value enhancements come from the MMM authorised dealer package. This package includes an All Round Monitor (ARM), Driving Video Recorder (DVR) and Leather Seats.

ARM uses four exterior cameras to create a 360° bird’s eye view to aid parking and manoeuvring. The DVR comes in handy for recording driving incidences in the front of the vehicle.

All these accessories are tested and verified by MMM to be in compliance with Malaysia’s local regulation requirement.

The Mitsubishi XPANDER comes with four colour choices i.e. Titanium Grey, Quartz White, Diamond Black and Red Metallic.
