Nittsu Transport Service Signs Up For Scania Ecolution And Takes Delivery Of New Scania Trucks
Logistics solutions provider, Nittsu Transport Service (M) Sdn Bhd, recently took delivery of a fleet of new Scania trucks and at the same time committed to the Scania Ecolution programme. Nittsu is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nippon Express (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, and is the first international truck fleet in Malaysia to sign up for Scania Ecolution as part of the company’s commitment to reduce its carbon footprint.
“Signing up as an Ecolution partner is a natural step for Nittsu as we are very conscientious about reducing our carbon footprint and operating in a sustainable manner. With Scania New Truck Generation’s advanced powertrain and aerodynamic solutions, we are confident in achieving better fuel efficiency thus reducing our overall Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions,” explained Billy Tee, Director of Nittsu.
The Scania Ecolution programme is a tailored partnership between Scania and its customers to focus on reducing fuel consumption which helps to reduce CO2 emissions. This partnership also focuses on reducing operating cost, thus translating to improved profitability for the customer while fulfilling the growing demand for environmentally-friendly initiatives.
Nittsu is the trucking division of Nippon Express, which is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur. Its core businesses include heavy haulage, reefer fleet, railway, domestic, milk run, and cross-border business. It transports an average of 1,000 containers monthly across Peninsular Malaysia, 700 – 800 containers monthly to Thailand and 400 containers in and out of Singapore.
Concurrent with the signing of the Scania Ecolution partnership, Nittsu also accepted the delivery of five Scania New Truck Generation G360A4X2NA from Managing Director of Scania Southeast Asia, Marie Sjödin Enström.
Apart from the powerful Scania New Truck Generation enhanced engine, this G-series 4×2 truck includes safety features such as the improved response from the Electronic Braking System (EBS). Inside, the comfortable and fully adjustable seat is placed close to the door and ergonomic dashboard. The large windscreen gives an extended view and provides better visibility from all angles for the drivers. These features help make the Scania New Truck Generation one of the safest trucks in the world, for all road users.
“From the first Scania truck that was purchased, to the latest addition of the five Scania New Truck Generation units, Nittsu made a smart investment as these trucks did not require heavy maintenance as long as we keep to the service schedule. Apart from that, our Scania trucks give us the best in fuel consumption savings,” added Billy Tee.
Additionally, Nittsu also signed a Repair and Maintenance contract where the costs of the spare parts are already included in the contract and keeps the Scania trucks uptime to the maximum consistently. “Today’s signing and handover ceremony is a testament of Scania’s ongoing drive towards providing our customers with sustainable transport solutions that will lower fuel consumption and reduce Nittsu’s carbon footprint. We appreciate Nittsu’s trust in Scania as we continue to support them in achieving mutually beneficial results of profitability for their business and reducing the environmental impact of our operations,” commented Marie.
