Honda BR-V Showing Good Sales Momentum
About a month into its launch, the Honda BR-V facelift is showing good sales momentum. According to Honda Malaysia, the new BR-V has recorded more than 1,400 bookings. The majority of the bookings naturally were made in the Central region (42%). And true to Malaysian preference, the range-topping V variant made up 85% of total bookings. Meanwhile, Modern Steel Metallic seems to be the crowd favourite with 24% of bookings for this exterior colour.
The Honda BR-V was first launched in Malaysia in 2017. Honda has since sold over 32,600 units of this 7-seater MPV.
“As Malaysia is now in the recovery phase, most of the businesses have resumed operations and are adapting to the new normal with strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) put in place. With the reopening of our dealerships, we are also pleased to see that our customers are visiting the dealerships for inquiry, car purchases and services. We would like to emphasise that all Honda dealers are safe to visit with the necessary precautions such as temperature screening, hand sanitizing and crowd control. We are working hard to ensure a clean and safe environment that can provide our customers with peace of mind when visiting Honda dealerships. We also encourage our customers and associates to practise social distancing at all times,” said Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Toichi Ishiyama.
“Last month, Honda Malaysia announced the price reduction for Honda cars following the announcement of sales tax exemption by the Malaysian Government, in which the price of the new BR-V was lowered. In addition to helping to stimulate the country’s economy and the local automotive industry, this exemption provides a great incentive for people who wish to purchase a car as the nation begins to recover from the impact of COVID-19,” added Mr Ishiyama. The BR-V is priced at RM86,726 (E variant) and RM93,420.27 (V variant). The White Orchid Pearl exterior colour is an additional RM272.73 for either variant. These prices are on-the-road in Pen. Malaysia, without insurance and valid until 31 December 2020.
To recap, parts new in the BR-V facelift includes the front grille, front bumper with lower bumper garnish, front fog light garnish as well as 16″ dual-tone alloy wheel design. At the rear, there is a new shark fin antenna as well as new rear bumper with lower bumper garnish.
The BR-V continues to be powered by a 1.5L i-VTEC engine paired with a CVT. The 120 PS output is the highest in its class. In terms of space, the BR-V is a 7-seater crossover-style vehicle with 223 litres of cargo space (all seats up). Cargo volume expands to 539 litres when the third row seats are folded down.
Interior-wise, the V variant comes with new leather seats with red finishing. The V variant also has paddle shifters for a sportier touch.
Donation Drive
In conjunction with the introduction of the facelifted BR-V, Honda Malaysia had launched two Community Relief Campaigns i.e. “Be Kind with BR-V” and “Honda Dealer Donation Drive”. These programmes serve to aid communities in the surrounding areas of Honda dealers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Honda Malaysia truly appreciates our customers’ support for our Community Relief Campaigns. As a little help goes a long way, we are certainly heartened by the generosity and kindness of the customers who visited the dealers with their donations for the affected communities. Malaysians are welcome to donate the basic necessities at any nearby Honda dealerships as the significant campaign is still ongoing until 31 August 2020. We would also like to thank our customers who purchase the new BR-V, of which a portion of the proceeds from every unit sold will be channeled to the COVID-19 relief programmes,” Mr. Ishiyama added.
The ongoing “Honda Dealer Donation Drive” campaign has been receiving favourable response from Malaysians and at the same time, Honda dealers have started to deliver the donated goods to their surrounding communities. Honda Malaysia expresses its sincerest gratitude to all 101 dealerships participating in these campaigns to support and give back to the community during these trying times. The company and its dealers are exemplifying the essence of “Together As One” in its unity in heart, spirit and effort to assist in every possible way and help communities get back on their feet.
