BMW X5 xDrive45e M Sport Launched In Malaysia

BMW Malaysia recently launched the BMW X5 xDrive45e M Sport to add to its locally-assembled electrified mobility models. Renowned as the best-selling Sport Activity Vehicle (SAV) in its segment worldwide, the X5 xDrive45e M Sport arrives with an electrifying core for supreme driving pleasure, along with a whole new level of performance, innovation and convenience.

Charging Forward with The Boss

The BMW X5 xDrive45e M Sport features unique updates to its iconic sporty appearance. This includes slim Adaptive LED headlights with BMW Selective Beam, and front LED fog lights that complement the bold kidney grille.

With the M Sport package, the X5 xDrive45e gets 20″ M light alloy wheels along with M Sport brakes. This SAV gets power from a 3.0L six-cylinder engine with BMW eDrive technology. Putting out a combined maximum output of 394 hp and 600 Nm of torque, this X5 can run to a top speed of 235 km/h. The 0 – 100 km/h sprint is recorded at 5.6 seconds. On pure electric mode, the X5 xDrive45e M Sport has a driving range of up to 77 km on a full charge. Speed tops at 135 km/h when driving in electric mode. Its rated fuel consumption is 2.5 litres per 100 km, and has a reduced carbon emission of 56 g/km.

The engine is paired to a revised eight-speed Steptronic transmission with enhanced shift dynamics. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via the xDrive all-wheel-drive system. Further, the X5 xDrive45e M Sport is now equipped with two-axle air suspension to maximise its dynamic ability and comfort.

Luxury Inside

Inside, the cockpit is fitted with Leather Vernasca upholstery as an elegant touch. The interior also features an M leather steering wheel, an electrically adjustable steering wheel, Sport front seats with memory function for the driver, four-zone climate control and an instrument panel in Sensatec. Also fitted is a 464-watt 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system.

Its cargo capacity is 500 litres and can be increased to 1,720 litres. Additionally, this X5 also comes with automatic tailgate operation, with contactless opening and closing function. Besides this the tailgate has a two-section split for ease of access. The top section can be opened electrically, while the bottom section is released manually.

Tech Savvy

The highlight of the X5 xDrive45e M Sport is the BMW Live Cockpit Professional with Gesture Control and Intelligent Personal Assistant. The BMW Live Cockpit Professional combines the 12.3″ fully digital instrument display with an equally large touchscreen Control Display. Meanwhile, rear passengers get to enjoy the Rear Seat Entertainment Professional with a 10.2″ touchscreen monitor. Wireless charging is also offered for added convenience.

Next-level driving assistance is offered via the BMW Personal CoPilot, which includes Lane Departure Warning and Lane Changing Warning. The system also has Frontal Collision Warning with braking intervention, Rear Crossing Traffic Warning, Rear Collision Prevention, as well as speed limit info.

Additionally, the X5 xDrive45e M Sport is equipped with intelligent Parking Assistant Plus with Surround View Camera, along with Reversing Assistant which provides an unmatched form of support when manoeuvring in and out of a parking spot or tight space. The Reversing Assistant keeps a record of the last 50 metres of the drive, at speeds up to 35 km/h, and uses this to assist in reversing out from the space by taking over the steering.

Moreover, the BMW ConnectedDrive features Intelligent Emergency Call, Teleservices and eDrive services. Owners will also get the BMW Display Key which displays the vehicle status such as range and key vehicle information. Aside from this, it provides convenient access to the vehicle’s air-conditioning system before entering the vehicle.

An advantage of the BMW Digital Key is keyless access via selected NFC enabled Android smartphones. Comfort Access 2.0 enables contactless locking and unlocking i.e. the door handle does not need to be grabbed or touched to lock or unlock the vehicle. Sensors on either side of the vehicle will recognise the vehicle key and unlock the vehicle from approximately one meter away, as you approach. It can also automatically lock upon you moving approximately two meters away from the vehicle.

Choice of Colours and Accessories

Exterior colour choices include Phytonic Blue, Black Sapphire, Mineral White and Arctic Grey. These are complemented by upholstery in Leather ‘Vernasca’ design perforations in Black and ‘Fineline Stripe’ fine-wood trim with brown high-gloss.

As an option, the exterior can be upgraded to feature BMW M Performance Genuine Parts and Accessories, such as the front air inlet, exterior mirror cap, front and rear winglets, and rear diffuser in Carbon Fibre. Side decals and side skirt films in Frozen Black are also available, as well as wheels in Star Spoke Jet Black Matte.

The BMW X5 xDrive45e M Sport has a retail price of RM440,745 on the road, without insurance, and with BMW Group Malaysia’s latest 5 Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty, Free Scheduled Service Programme and BMW Tyre Warranty Programme.

It will be available at all authorised BMW dealerships nationwide from Saturday, 20th June 2020.
