GoCar Malaysia Intensifies Car Cleaning Procedures
GoCar Malaysia has announced that it is extending its ongoing ‘GoClean’ campaign to include disinfecting as part of its car-cleaning procedure. This additional measure is to ensure that the cleanliness and hygiene level of all the cars in its fleet are maintained especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the Movement Control Order (MCO) is extended into its third phase (until 28 April 2020), GoCar sees the need to maintain good hygiene practices to keep its customers safe. As such, the company has introduced a more thorough cleaning procedure and ramped up the frequency for cleaning cars. One of its many efforts is providing the on-ground team with antimicrobial cleaning products to wipe surfaces that are frequently touched, such as the steering wheel, seats, door handles, handbrake, and gear lever. This is to ensure everyone in its car-sharing community has a safe and comfortable journey travelling in isolation with a GoCar for various reasons, whether it’s for buying basic necessities such as groceries for personal use, or for small business owners to deliver orders to their customers.
“In order to allow our members to continue accessing and using cars on-demand, our fleet maintenance team may not be able to attend to each car after every booking. This is a balancing act between making sure GoCar is available to help those who need a car to commute and having our team cleaning cars as regularly as possible. However, we have taken proactive measures by upgrading our cleaning procedures to ensure all cars are cleaned rigorously. For cars that can’t be cleaned as scheduled due to travelling restrictions related to MCO, we will block the car until our team can attend to it,” said Alan Cheah, CEO of GoCar Malaysia on the new cleaning protocols.
“To ensure we do everything we can to keep our car sharing community safe, we are working with local disinfection companies now to have our cars professionally disinfected,” Cheah added. The cars are sprayed with disinfectant to incapacitate any virus and bacteria which may be present.
The ongoing ‘GoClean’ campaign has been extended in light of GoCar’s recent community initiatives which gained popularity over the last 2 weeks. Its partnership with Shell Malaysia to provide free cars and petrol for healthcare frontliners has gained over 800 sign-ups, while GoCar for Delivery has helped mobilise over 300 business owners to make their own deliveries. GoCar will also continue providing anti-bacterial wipes containing benzalkonium chloride in each car’s glove compartment for its members to wipe down the car on their own and others, even after the MCO period ends.
