41,000 Toyota Vehicles in Malaysia Affected by Special Service Campaign

Shah Alam, 29th August 2019 – UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT), the official distributor of Toyota and Lexus vehicles in Malaysia, has announced a Special Service Campaign (SSC) that involves some 41,000 Toyota vehicles.

This new SSC involves replacing the airbag inflator of certain Toyota models sold by the company. The vehicles involved in this campaign had been subjected to a previous Takata airbag inflator recall and repaired accordingly between 2014 and 2019, where a number of vehicles had non-desiccated airbag inflators produced by Takata replace the originally installed inflators. In this current campaign, those airbag inflators will be replaced with new airbag inflator components that have been further improved.

UMWT assures that the safety of its customers is always a top priority. The approximately 41,000 Toyota vehicles affected by this SSC are manufactured between 2001 to 2013.

The models are Toyota Vios that were produced from May 2003 to Aug 2007, and Sept 2007 to July 2013; Toyota Corolla Altis, produced from July 2001 to July 2007, Toyota Camry produced from June 2002 to Dec 2005 and Toyota Yaris produced from Jan 2006 to Aug 2007.

The company will notify all affected vehicle owners officially and perform the special service at no charge to the owners.
